If you are a family of up to five looking at Casa Cayuco, two rooms keep coming up: Tortuga and Delfín. Casa Cayuco’s own descriptions are short, and the two rooms share a layout, so the decision is about position and view. We have not stayed yet, so this comparison sticks to what the lodge publishes and flags where you should ask.

Short answer

Tortuga Beachfront Bungalow versus Delfín Beachside Bungalow is a choice of position: both sleep five (one queen bed plus up to three twin beds), both are open-air with an en-suite bathroom and a large covered porch. Tortuga is on the beach with the waves and ocean breeze; Delfín shares a view of the Caribbean Sea and the jungle garden. What both bungalows have in common

Both are listed by Casa Cayuco as spacious, open-air bungalows for up to five guests with a queen bed and up to three twin beds, an en-suite bathroom and a large covered porch. Like every cabin and suite at the lodge they come with a high-powered ceiling fan, a memory foam mattress, high thread count sheets, a mosquito net, high-speed wifi and organic coconut soap and hair care handmade in Bocas. Electricity is solar-powered 24/7 with US-style outlets, and guests are asked not to use hair dryers.

Neither bungalow is air-conditioned: the only air-conditioned accommodation at Casa Cayuco is the Estrella De Mar villa. Both include the lodge’s all-meals inclusion, the boat transfer from Bocas Town and use of kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel gear.

Tortuga Beachfront Bungalow: the beach first

Tortuga is described as a beachfront bungalow. The lodge’s wording is about watching the waves crash on the beach and enjoying the cool ocean breezes from the porch. For families who want the sea at the front door, that is the draw: you step out of the covered porch towards the beach boardwalk and the water.

Things to weigh: beachfront means more exposure to wind and sea sound, which many guests love and some light sleepers want to ask about. It is also where the children will be most tempted to go in the water, so parents of younger guests (the lodge accepts ages 5+) may like having it close and in sight.

Delfín Beachside Bungalow: sea and jungle garden

Delfín is called a beachside bungalow, with a porch sharing a view of the Caribbean Sea and the jungle garden. In other words you have the sea in view with a leafier foreground. Many families like that blend: shade from the garden, wildlife around the porch, and the beach a short walk away.

Food, boats and a family-friendly day

On a typical day, breakfast, lunch and a three-course dinner are served at communal tables, with an afternoon snack brought to wherever you are. Dinner is sometimes on the large table on the dock under the stars. Included: a guided Salt Creek village tour of about two hours. Extra: excursions such as Sloth Creek ($40) and the Botanical Chocolate Farm Tour ($70), prices as listed in November 2026.

For logistics, the lodge’s one daily boat leaves Bocas Town at 3:00 pm and returns from the lodge around 12:30 pm. Read how to get to Casa Cayuco.

How to book Casa Cayuco with our 4% discount

Casa Cayuco’s own site says the best rate is by reserving directly, and that is exactly where our link goes. We are Casa Cayuco’s partner and earn a small commission when you book with our code, at no extra cost to you. Because the discount is tracked by the code alone, please follow these steps in order:

  1. Open our booking link (any of the buttons on this page). It opens Casa Cayuco’s own booking engine.
  2. Check that HungryTravelPanama is showing in the promo box before you search. If the box is empty, type the code in yourself — it gives 4% off.
  3. Choose your dates (minimum three nights; check-in 3:00 pm, check-out 12:30 pm) and pick your room. Live rates are shown there — the lodge does not publish nightly prices elsewhere.
  4. Confirm with the 50% deposit. The balance is paid on site by cash, bank transfer or card.

On cancellations: more than 60 days before check-in the deposit is refunded minus a $100 admin fee, 45–60 days out half of the deposit is forfeited, and under 45 days the deposit is forfeited in full. The lodge strongly recommends travel insurance.

Who Casa Cayuco is not for

We would rather you book the right place than our place. Casa Cayuco is probably not your fit if you are travelling with children under 5 (the lodge does not accept guests under 5 because of the remote location), if you can only stay one or two nights (the minimum is three), if you want air conditioning everywhere (only the Estrella De Mar villa has it; every other room is open-air with a high-powered fan), or if you want nightlife — Bocas Town is a 30–35 minute boat ride away and the lodge’s own boat runs on a schedule.
