What the room is like
The lodge describes Delfín as spacious and open-air, with an en-suite bathroom and a large covered porch that shares views of the Caribbean Sea and the jungle garden. In the photographs, the bedroom has twin beds under mosquito nets and the porch holds seating among tropical greenery. The setting is beachside rather than directly on the sand, which means a short walk through garden to the water.

Open-air means exactly that: the structure lets in air and sounds. You’ll hear the sea, birds and, at night, the jungle. If you like to sleep in complete silence behind sealed windows, this isn’t that kind of room, and only the Estrella De Mar villa has air-conditioned bedrooms.
Who Delfín suits best
We would point these travellers to Delfín Beachside Bungalow4% off · HungryTravelPanama:
- Parents with two or three children aged 5 and over who want everyone in one room
- Two friends or a couple travelling with one more person, thanks to the queen plus twin beds
- Families who like a garden setting and the sea together
- Travellers who want a bungalow, not a treehouse or a suite in the main lodge
It’s less suited to couples looking for romance and privacy: Pelicano or Loro work better. And because children under 5 are not accepted at the lodge, a family with a toddler will need a different holiday this year.
Delfín vs Tortuga: which bungalow should we pick?
Both sleep five with the same bed configuration of one queen and up to three twins. The lodge describes Tortuga as beachfront, with waves breaking on the beach and cool ocean breezes on its porch, while Delfín is beachside, facing both the sea and the jungle garden. In practice we’d choose:

- Tortuga Beachfront Bungalow4% off · HungryTravelPanama if sea views and breeze are the top priority.
- Delfín Beachside Bungalow4% off · HungryTravelPanama if you like a little more garden and greenery around the porch.
Availability may decide for you; check both for your dates and compare.

A family day starting at Delfín
Stroll to breakfast at the communal tables, pick up kayaks and snorkel gear from the beach, and swim in the calm bay. After lunch, the lodge’s guides can plan a half-day at Isla Zapatillas ($80 per person, ten minutes by boat), a Sloth Creek boat trip ($40 per person, 1 hour) or the Salt Creek village tour that’s already included. Evening brings an afternoon snack, then a three-course dinner, sometimes on the dock.

Remember that excursions are an extra, the 10% hotel tax applies to rooms and gratuities of 12–15% are suggested.
Practical tips for five in one room
- Bring a small power strip for the Type A 110 V outlets, but no hair dryers.
- Pack insect repellent for dusk and dawn, plus a headlamp for night walks to the main lodge.
- Keep a dry bag for boat rides, and a rain jacket for the evening showers that usually clear by late morning.
- Tell the kitchen early about any food allergies; the kitchen uses nuts and gluten.

The honest downsides
Delfín has no air conditioning, requires a 3-night minimum, and sits on an island where the nearest shop is a 30–35 minute boat ride away. It is also not for guests under 5. If those facts are fine, it’s a comfortable, practical family bungalow in an unusually beautiful setting.

Our Honest Final Word
If we were travelling with three children, Delfín or Tortuga would be where we’d look first: everyone in one room, a porch for the evening and the sea in front. We haven’t stayed yet, so this is based on the lodge’s own descriptions and photographs, and we’d tell you if that changes. For a bigger group, the villa is the step up.
