Short answer

You can propose at the cabin, villa or hotel you have already booked, and we will arrange it with the property for you. Right Where You Are (from €650) is a styled setting inside or outside your accommodation, with 30 roses and sparkling wine, set up and removed by our team within 30 km of Rovaniemi. A Thousand Petals (from €700) is a room surprise with rose petals, 70 roses and 15 heart balloons. Both need the property’s agreement, so tell us where you are staying as early as you can. Rovaniemi Weddings is our own company, and we contact the host ourselves, never your partner. A photographer can be added, and we recommend it. See all Proposals in Lapland.

Why Propose Where You Are Staying

Many couples who travel to Rovaniemi choose a beautiful cabin or glass-roofed room, and then realise that the proposal could happen right there. There is no transfer, no outdoor cold on the day, no schedule that depends on a driver, and no stranger watching. For people who are nervous about being photographed in public, or who would rather ask in a quiet room than in front of a guide, this is often the best option.

It also suits the trip. You can have a slow morning, a long lunch, an afternoon outdoors, and return to find the cabin transformed. Or you can plan it for the evening, with the fire lit and a bottle on ice. The setting is simply yours, whatever the weather does outside.

There is also the question of the story. A proposal in the room where you have been staying becomes part of the whole trip: the morning coffee, the first snow outside the window, the evening you came back to find it ready. You can also combine it: a daytime outing, then the cabin in the evening.

What the Two Room Options Include

We have two options built for accommodation, and they are quite different in feeling.

  • Right Where You Are, from €650. A styled proposal setting inside or outside your cabin, villa or hotel, in the hotel garden or on the terrace if you prefer. Included: organisation and coordination, décor at your accommodation, delivery and set-up within 30 km of Rovaniemi, a bouquet of 30 roses and complimentary sparkling wine. The price depends on how complex the décor is.
  • A Thousand Petals, from €700. You open the door and the room is ready: a path of rose petals, a bouquet of 70 roses on the bed, 15 heart-shaped balloons and a bottle on ice. No audience, no rush. Set-up within 30 km of the city centre is included. It also suits an anniversary, a honeymoon or a special evening if you are already married.

Neither price includes a photographer, but one can be added, and so can a videographer, a bigger bouquet or grander décor. We would add the photographer first. A proposal in a room goes by quickly, and the couple photographs afterwards are what most people keep.

The Part Most People Do Not Know: The Property Has to Agree

Right Where You Are needs the property’s agreement. That is not a formality: a host has to be comfortable with candles, flowers, balloons, rearranged furniture, our team entering and leaving, and in some cases a photographer. Some hosts are delighted, others have rules about open flames, fire safety or access, and a few do not accept outside décor at all.

This is why we ask for the name of your accommodation as early as possible. We contact the property ourselves, explain what we will set up, and agree the timing. Common points we settle with a host are: how we get in while you are out, how long we need, what we can use (for example battery candles or lanterns instead of flames), and who the contact on site is. We never contact your partner, and we ask the host to keep it quiet too.

If a property says no, we have alternatives. The setting can move outside to the terrace or garden if allowed, or to one of our private options such as The Fireside Proposal. We tell you early rather than at the last minute.

How a Room Set-Up Works on the Day

This is the usual sequence, adjusted to your plan.

  1. You leave the room for a reason you have prepared: breakfast, a walk, a spa, an activity or dinner.
  2. We enter, using the arrangement agreed with the host, and set up the décor, the flowers and the sparkling wine.
  3. You return, usually a little ahead of your partner or with them. If you have a photographer, they wait out of sight outside or nearby.
  4. You open the door and the question happens in your own space.
  5. We come back later to remove everything, so you have nothing to carry or tidy.

Because we remove the set-up afterwards, you do not leave the host with a mess, and you keep the flowers if you want to take them home. Ask us about that at the quote stage.

Safety, Candles and the Small Rules

A room is a small space, so safety matters. We follow what the property allows. Where open flames are not allowed we use battery candles and lanterns, which look good in photographs and carry no risk. We do not block exits, we do not leave anything unattended, and we do not move your belongings. Balloons are fixed so they do not drift into lights or alarms. If your accommodation has a sauna or fireplace, we plan around it rather than adding to it.

If you are staying somewhere with shared spaces, such as a hotel with a lobby, the corridor is not part of the surprise. The room is. We keep everything inside the door.

Arrival Day, a Middle Day or the Last Night?

The day you choose changes the feeling of the whole trip, so it is worth a minute of thought. An arrival-day proposal removes the secret early: you spend the rest of the holiday as an engaged couple, with every aurora night and snowy walk happening after the yes. The downside is travel fatigue, and a late flight makes the evening tight. A middle-day proposal is our favourite for most couples: you have settled in, you know the light and the weather, and we can use the best-looking day. A last-night proposal gives you a quiet ending, but it leaves no room if the weather or a delayed transfer disrupts the plan, and a room set-up is the one option that does not depend on the outdoors, so it works well here.

Whichever day you choose, tell us your check-in and check-out times. The set-up needs a window of roughly an hour when the room is free, and we will find it with the host. If you plan to propose on the last evening, remember that the removal happens after you have gone to dinner or sleep, so you wake to a normal room.

Which Accommodation Works Best

Almost any cabin, villa or hotel can work if the host agrees. A glass-roofed room or a cabin with a terrace has the advantage of the sky, and a hotel room with a view of the river or forest gives you a different kind of backdrop. A private cabin with its own fireplace or sauna often makes the easiest conversation with the host. If you have not yet booked, consider choosing somewhere you can also use for the proposal. One of our settings was at Aurora Hill Resort, on Rovaniemi’s highest hill, and the resort suits a proposal well: Aurora Hill Resort has the view, the privacy and a team used to couples. We can also work anywhere in Lapland and the Nordics, with travel costs priced by distance.

How to Plan It With Us

The process is the one we use for every proposal. Tell us the story: where you are staying, who your partner is, how you want the moment to feel. We contact the host and send you a clear quote within a few days. Quiet preparation follows: flowers, timing, photographer if you add one, weather plan. The moment: you open the door. We reply within one business day. Write to us through Contact Rovaniemi Weddings as soon as you have booked your accommodation.

FAQ

Do you need the hotel or cabin's permission?

Yes. Right Where You Are requires the property’s agreement, and we ask for it ourselves. We explain exactly what we will set up and agree timing and any rules, such as no open flames.

How much does it cost?

Right Where You Are starts at €650 and A Thousand Petals at €700. The price depends on the complexity of the décor. A photographer, videographer, bigger bouquet or grander décor are add-ons.

Is a photographer included?

Not in these two options, but it can be added, and we recommend it. In most of our other proposals the photographer is included.

Can you set up in a hotel room while we are out?

Yes, if the host allows it. We arrange access with the property so you do not have to be there. We remove everything afterwards.

What if the property says no?

We move the setting outdoors if allowed, or to one of our private settings such as The Fireside Proposal. We tell you as soon as we know.

How far from Rovaniemi can you set up?

Set-up within 30 km of Rovaniemi is included. Further away, in Lapland or anywhere in the Nordics, we are happy to travel and the price depends on distance.

Our Honest Final Word

Proposing where you stay is the most private way to do it and often the most relaxed, because nobody is watching and the weather outside does not matter. The one condition is the property’s agreement, which is why we ask early and handle the conversation ourselves.

Yes, Rovaniemi Weddings is our business, and these two are our simplest, most affordable options, so we are glad to recommend them when they fit you. If your accommodation will not allow it, we will say so and suggest something else. Tell us where you are staying through Contact Rovaniemi Weddings, and choose between Right Where You Are and A Thousand Petals.
