A Proposal in Your Cabin or Hotel Room in Rovaniemi: Two Surprises We Bring to Wherever You Are Staying

You have already booked the glass-roof suite, the log cabin or the lakeside villa, so why not ask the question there? We bring a styled proposal setting, or a room covered in rose petals, to your own accommodation, from €650. This guide explains how it works, what the property needs to agree, and how to get your partner out of the room while we get it ready.

Short answer

Yes, you can propose in your own cabin, villa or hotel room in Rovaniemi, and it is our most affordable way to do it. Right Where You Are (from €650) brings a styled setting to the place you are staying, inside or outside, with 30 roses and sparkling wine. A Thousand Petals (from €700) turns the room into a surprise: a path of rose petals, 70 roses on the bed, 15 heart balloons and a bottle on ice. Both are set up within 30 km of Rovaniemi, both need the property’s agreement, which we ask for on your behalf, and a photographer can be added to either. Through our own company, Rovaniemi Weddings, we plan every detail; see all ten Proposals in Lapland.

Why Propose Where You Are Staying

Many of the couples who write to us have already booked something beautiful: a glass-roof suite under the northern sky, a log cabin with its own sauna, a lakeside villa. The accommodation is already part of the story, and it is warm, private and does not need a transfer. For some people it is also the most comfortable way to propose, with no audience, no outdoor cold, and no pressure to say yes in front of a crowd.

Full disclosure: Rovaniemi Weddings is our own company. Alla started it after planning her own wedding in 2024, and the two of us and our small team do the set-up. We have set up proposal rooms and cabin settings at several places around Rovaniemi, and we know the small practical things that make or break the moment: timing with the property, safe candles in a wooden cabin, and getting in and out unseen.

This is also the best option if you are travelling on a tight schedule. Nothing has to be added to your itinerary; you simply go out for dinner, a sauna or a walk, and the room changes while you are away.

Two Options, One Idea: Choose Your Style

We have two signature options for this, and a third if you want something grander.

Right Where You Are€650A styled setting inside or outside, such as a terrace, a garden or by the fire; elegant and flexibleDécor, 30 roses, sparkling wine, delivery and set-up within 30 km of RovaniemiAdd-on
A Thousand Petals€700A romantic room surprise that is ready when you open the doorRose petals, 70 roses on the bed, 15 heart balloons, sparkling wine, set-up within 30 km of the centreAdd-on
The Grand Romance€2,700A spectacular heart of flowers with MARRY ME letters and a flower-lined aisle, at the location of your choiceSet-up, removal and transport within 30 kmIncluded

The difference in feel is simple. Right Where You Are suits a couple who want to propose in a setting, perhaps on the terrace at dusk or in front of a cabin window. A Thousand Petals suits someone who wants the reveal to be the room itself. Neither is an audience event.

What Actually Gets Set Up

For Right Where You Are we arrange the décor at your accommodation, inside or outside, according to your story: candles, lanterns, flowers, a chosen spot for the question. The bouquet is 30 roses, and a bottle of sparkling wine is waiting. Prices depend on the complexity of the décor and on extra services, so the €650 is the start of a conversation, not a fixed menu.

For A Thousand Petals the sequence is deliberately simple. You open the door, and there is a path of rose petals, a bouquet of 70 roses on the bed, 15 heart-shaped balloons floating at the ceiling, and a bottle on ice. It is also suited to an anniversary, a honeymoon or a special evening whether you are engaged or already married.

Both options can be scaled up with a bigger bouquet, a grand décor design or more balloons, and both can add a videographer. We work with high-quality artificial and preserved flowers suited to Arctic conditions, because fresh petals freeze at −30 °C and wilt fast in a dry, heated room, and the bouquets are made by hand in our Rovaniemi studio.

The One Condition: The Property Has to Agree

Right Where You Are requires the property’s agreement, and so does any set-up in a room. This is a normal request for us, and we ask on your behalf, quietly, without mentioning your names to anyone you do not want to know. You tell us where you are staying and the dates; we contact the property, explain what we will bring and when, and arrange access for the set-up and removal.

Where it gets easy is at places we have worked before. At the resorts we have worked with before, this usually takes a single message. If your accommodation is unusual, a private villa for example, the owner decides, and we adapt to the rules, for example LED candles only if open flames are not allowed. We do not take chances with fire safety in wooden cabins.

Practical advice if you have not booked yet: choose a place with a proper terrace or a window with a view, a bed you do not mind covering in petals, and a host who answers messages. If you are still choosing, our guide to romantic things to do in Rovaniemi for couples has ideas for where to base yourself.

Places We Know Well, and What They Offer

We plan proposals in many places, but a few come up again and again for room and cabin set-ups:

  • Aurora Hill Resort. Handcrafted glass-fronted cabins on Rovaniemi’s highest hill, about 10 km from the centre, with beds turned toward the northern sky and glass roofs in the Sky Suites. A setting for an in-suite proposal.
  • Silver Birch Resort. A small private lakeside resort with five glass-fronted cabins on its own peninsula. We have set up proposals on the shore, on the ice in winter, and in the cabins.
  • Invisible Forest Lodge. Mirror-clad suites in a pine forest beside the river, with a candle-lit path to the suite and settings inside the suite itself.
  • Arcticmint Villa. A family-owned villa on Lake Norvajärvi, where the whole house can be yours. It suits a quiet proposal at the lakeshore.

Any other cabin, villa or hotel in Lapland works too, and if you are further away than 30 km from Rovaniemi we are happy to travel, quoted by distance.

How to Get Your Partner Out of the Room

The only tricky part of a room proposal is making sure your partner is away while we prepare it, and back at the right time. These are the ways that have worked for couples:

  1. Dinner out. A restaurant dinner in town gives us 90 minutes to an hour and a half. Message us when you leave the table.
  2. A sauna or spa visit. The most natural one in Lapland. Everyone expects a long sauna.
  3. An evening activity. A northern lights tour or a husky safari leaves the room empty for hours.
  4. A walk. A short evening walk works for terrace and outdoor set-ups, with a pre-agreed message to us when you turn back.

We arrange timing precisely with you in advance, and we step out of sight before you return. If a photographer is added, they are hidden or arrive with you as part of the plan. Everything you share stays between us, and we never contact your partner.

Photographer or No Photographer?

Most of our proposals include a photographer, but these two do not, because they are designed for privacy. Our honest view: add one if you can. The first 60 seconds of the moment are the part you will never see yourself, and the first conversation afterward is usually the best photograph of all. A photographer can be hidden outside the window, or already inside as a “guest”, and takes couple photos right after the yes.

If you want a more private moment, you can choose the room set-up without a photographer and book a short session the next morning. We can arrange that, for example with our Surprise Proposal Photoshoot (from €1,050) outdoors near Rovaniemi, which includes two hours of photography, edited images and short videos for social media.

Seasons and What Changes

Both options work all year. In winter, an outside set-up on a terrace means fur throws, warm drinks, and LED candles that look just as lovely in the snow. In summer, the midnight sun gives soft light long past midnight, and a terrace set-up is warm enough to sit in. In September and October, the autumn colours and the first aurora make a window or terrace set-up especially lovely. See our full price guide to Lapland proposals if you want to compare costs across all ten.

How to Plan It With Us

  1. Tell us the story. Where you are staying, your dates, how you met, what they love. Use the Contact Rovaniemi Weddings page.
  2. Option and quote. A clear quote within a few days, and we hold the date.
  3. Quiet preparation. We ask the property, confirm flowers, candles, photographer and timing.
  4. The moment. We set up while you are out, step out of sight, and come back to pack down afterward.

We reply within one business day, and last-minute requests are welcome if the date is free.

FAQ

Can we really propose in our own hotel room or cabin?

Yes. Right Where You Are and A Thousand Petals are designed for exactly that. The property needs to agree, and we ask on your behalf.

How much does it cost?

From €650 for Right Where You Are and from €700 for A Thousand Petals, with set-up within 30 km of Rovaniemi. A photographer, a videographer, a bigger bouquet or more balloons can be added.

Does it include a photographer?

No, it is an add-on for both options. Our other proposals include one, and we recommend adding one here.

Can you do it outside the 30 km radius?

Yes. We work anywhere in Lapland and the Nordics; locations beyond 30 km are quoted by distance.

Will my partner find out?

Not from us. We communicate only with you and never contact your partner, friends or the property unless you ask. Set-up and removal happen while you are out.

What if the hotel refuses?

It is rare, but it happens. In that case we suggest an outdoor alternative nearby, such as The Fireside Proposal or a styled setting on private land, so the plan survives.

Our Honest Final Word

A proposal in the room you are already sleeping in is not the most dramatic option, and that is exactly why people choose it. It is private, warm, easy to hide and easy on the budget, and it still feels like a surprise because the room is not as you left it. We are biased, because this is our own business, but we also think a quiet proposal in a cabin by a frozen lake is more romantic than many of the grander ones.

Start with Right Where You Are or A Thousand Petals, or tell us where you are staying on the Contact Rovaniemi Weddings page and we will suggest the best fit.
