A Valentine’s Day Proposal in Rovaniemi on a Budget: What You Get From €650, €700, €1,050 and €1,400
You do not need the biggest setting to make 14 February unforgettable. We run Rovaniemi Weddings, our own company, and our proposals start at €650. Here is what each step up the price ladder adds, which extras are worth paying for, and which Valentine’s options we would pick for a trip to Rovaniemi.

A Valentine’s Day proposal in Rovaniemi can start at €650: Right Where You Are brings a styled setting, 30 roses and sparkling wine to the cabin, villa or hotel you have already booked. Next come A Thousand Petals (from €700, a rose-petal room surprise), the Surprise Proposal Photoshoot (from €1,050, two hours of photography included) and On the Frozen Lake or The Fireside Proposal (from €1,400, photographer included). The one add-on we would always choose is a photographer. Browse everything at Proposals in Lapland and write to us early: 14 February is one of our most requested dates.

The Price Ladder in One Look
People who ask about a Valentine’s proposal in Rovaniemi often assume it will cost thousands. Our own company, Rovaniemi Weddings, offers ten signature proposals from €650 to €2,700, and four of them sit under €1,500. All are from-prices that include planning, coordination, set-up and removal.
| Option | From | Photographer | Where | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Right Where You Are | €650 | Add-on | Your own cabin, villa or hotel | The tightest budget |
| A Thousand Petals | €700 | Add-on | Your room, suite or cabin | An indoor, no-audience surprise |
| Surprise Proposal Photoshoot | €1,050 | Included, 2 hours | Ounasvaara hill or Vaattunkiköngäs | Photographs as the main memory |
| The Fireside Proposal | €1,400 | Included | Private land, laavu fire | Warmth and privacy |
| On the Frozen Lake | €1,400 | Included | Private frozen lake, Dec–Mar | Candles on ice |
February sits inside the frozen-lake season, so all five are possible on 14 February.
A quick way to choose: if your partner dislikes being watched, pick the room surprise or the photoshoot, where the “audience” is one person with a camera. If they love being outdoors and you have a free afternoon, the fire or the lake. If you are still deciding between ten options, the page for each proposal lists exactly what is included and what can be added, and you receive one clear quote with nothing hidden before you decide.
€650: Right Where You Are
If you have already booked a lovely cabin, villa or hotel, this is the proposal that costs least and asks least of your itinerary. We style the room, terrace or garden: décor arranged at your accommodation, delivery and set-up within 30 km of Rovaniemi, a bouquet of 30 roses and complimentary sparkling wine. The price depends on the complexity of the décor, and it needs the property’s agreement, which we ask for on your behalf.

It is also the option where the choice of the photographer matters most. A photographer is an add-on here, not included, and we would add one. A proposal at €650 plus a photographer is still well below most of the signature options, and you keep photographs of a moment that you will not repeat. If you are travelling on a tight budget, see also budget activities in Rovaniemi that are still magical for ways to enjoy the rest of the trip cheaply.
€700: A Thousand Petals, the Room Surprise
You open the door and the room is ready: a path of rose petals, 70 roses on the bed, 15 heart balloons and a bottle on ice. There is no audience and no rush; the proposal happens in the room you are already in. It is also a good fit for an anniversary or a honeymoon evening, whether you are engaged or not. Set-up within 30 km of Rovaniemi city centre is included, and the photographer is an add-on.

Because it needs nothing but a closed door and a time, it is the easiest option to hide in a Valentine’s trip: suggest dinner out, send your partner back to the room first and let the room do the rest. We are the ones who set it up while you are at dinner.
€1,050: The Surprise Proposal Photoshoot
This is the best value if what you want most is pictures. It is a two-hour photography session in nature that starts as a walk — Ounasvaara hill or Vaattunkiköngäs with its bridge and river — and ends with the proposal waiting at a spot we have already styled. Included: 2 hours of photography, 10–20 sneak-peek images within 24 hours, 2–3 short videos for social media, and at least 80 edited images in a web gallery three weeks later, plus candles, lanterns, floral styling, 30 roses, a sparkling drink and all travel within Rovaniemi.
Because the couple believes they are simply going for a photoshoot, this one almost hides itself; it is one of our most natural ways to keep a Valentine’s surprise. A second location, such as a private reindeer farm, can be added, but the farm charges separately.

Right Where You Are
From €650 · year-round. Everything you share stays between us — we never contact your partner.
€1,400: The Fireside and the Frozen Lake
At €1,400 the setting becomes the point. The Fireside Proposal is a private laavu on private land outside Rovaniemi with a fire already crackling, warm drinks and cookies, simple decoration, 30 roses, sparkling wine and a professional photographer; in winter there is a reindeer you can feed. On the Frozen Lake is a wide frozen lake surrounded by snow-covered pines, styled for the time of day you choose, with candles and lanterns on the ice and the fire waiting on the shore. Both include the photographer. In February, when the ice is at its safest, the frozen lake is one of our most requested options.

Transport is an add-on for both, so check the distance from your accommodation when you write to us.
What Is Worth Paying Extra For
If you have a little room in the budget, here is our own ranking of the add-ons, from the one we recommend most:
- A photographer, for the two options that do not include one.
- A videographer, if you would like to watch the moment, not only remember it. Available on every option; mention it in your first message.
- Private transport, if the distance from Rovaniemi would otherwise mean taxis in the cold.
- A bigger bouquet or a grand décor design, which any option can be scaled up to.
What we would not worry about: more drinks, more balloons or more candles. A good setting with the right person works with very little.
A Valentine's Weekend Plan That Fits the Budget
A short winter trip can be shaped around the question:
- Day 1: arrive, rest, a simple dinner. Airport is about ten minutes from town.
- Day 2, 14 February: a slow morning, a free afternoon, and the proposal in the evening or at dusk, depending on the option.
- Day 3: a late breakfast, a look at the photographs, and the afternoon free. For ideas see our husky and snowmobile day in Rovaniemi.
The daytime options (the photoshoot, the laavu) are easiest to place in the afternoon light; the room surprise and the dome-style evening settings are for after dark. What to wear is covered in what to wear in Lapland in winter.
Honest Caveats for 14 February
Valentine’s Day is one of our most requested dates, so the earlier you write, the better your chance of the exact hour you want. Cloud can hide the northern lights, and we never promise the sky. Daylight in February is returning but still limited, so plan photographs early in the afternoon or at twilight. And the cheapest option is not automatically the best for your partner: if they dislike surprises in a hotel room, choose the photoshoot instead.
Finally, think about what you will do with the photographs. Many couples tell us that the sneak-peek images, sent within 24 hours in the photoshoot option, are what they send to family on the same evening. If that matters to you, say so in your first message, and we will tell you which option delivers pictures fastest. A Valentine’s proposal is often shared the same night; planning for that makes the day after calmer.
One last thing on money: we are not quoting hotel, flight or tour prices in this post because those are not ours to set, and they change. Our own prices are the ones above; everything else on your trip is yours to budget with your own sources, and we are happy to say which of our options travel well with a lean trip.
How to Plan It With Us, Step by Step
This is how our own process works for a Valentine’s proposal, from €650.
- Weeks before: tell us the story. How you met, what matters to them, how you want the moment to feel. We suggest the option that fits, or shape a custom one — start at Proposals in Lapland or write to us through Contact Rovaniemi Weddings.
- Within a few days: option and quote. One clear quote with nothing hidden, your date held, and the exact place and timing fine-tuned together.
- The days before: quiet preparation. Flowers, candles, photographer, transport, sparkling wine and the weather plan are all confirmed.
- The hour: the moment. We set up while you are on your way and step out of sight; you walk them in, the yes happens, we capture it and quietly pack down.
Write at least a few weeks ahead if you can; last-minute requests are welcome if the date is free. We reply within one business day and never contact your partner.
FAQ
What is the cheapest proposal you offer?
Right Where You Are, from €650: a styled setting at your own cabin, villa or hotel, 30 roses and sparkling wine, with a photographer as an add-on.
Is a photographer included?
In eight of our ten signature proposals yes. In Right Where You Are and A Thousand Petals it is an add-on that we strongly recommend.
Can the frozen lake proposal happen on 14 February?
The frozen lake season runs December to March, whenever the ice is thick and safe. February is normally inside it, and we confirm on the day.
Does the price change on Valentine's Day?
Our from-prices are the prices on each proposal page. Extras such as transport depend on distance from Rovaniemi.
How early should we write for 14 February?
As early as possible; it is one of our most requested dates. Last-minute requests are welcome if the day is free.
What if the weather is bad?
There is no rain in Lapland in winter; snow is part of the scene. We agree a sheltered alternative in advance.
Our Honest Final Word
A big moment does not need a big budget. For many couples, a simple styled room, a photographer and the right evening is exactly right, and that is something we say as the people who sell it, so weigh it as such, and for others the fire or the ice is worth the step up. We are happy either way, and we would rather you chose what fits. Start with Right Where You Are or A Thousand Petals if you are watching the budget, move to the Surprise Proposal Photoshoot if photographs matter most, and take a look at On the Frozen Lake if you can stretch to it. Then write to us through Contact Rovaniemi Weddings.
