The best Panama honeymoons we can imagine are short on logistics and long on time together. This plan keeps to two bases. Lodge facts come from Casa Cayuco’s own pages and booking terms; the Panama City part is high-level general knowledge, with no prices. We have not stayed at the lodge ourselves yet.

Short answer

A Panama honeymoon itinerary of 8 days works best with two bases: two nights in Casco Viejo in Panama City, then five nights at a beachfront bungalow on Isla Bastimentos. The shape of the trip

Eight days, seven nights: nights one and two in Panama City, nights three to seven at the lodge, then a flight home from Panama City. Because the lodge’s single daily boat is tied to the recommended flights, plan to leave Bocas on the morning boat and fly out to Panama City the same afternoon, so allow a night in Panama City before an international flight.

Days 1–2: Casco Viejo

Casco Viejo is Panama City’s historic old quarter, walkable and full of restaurants. Casa Cayuco recommends American Trade Hotel there and says its guests get special rates (mention Casa Cayuco). We cannot quote prices, so ask the hotel directly. English-speaking driver and tour options exist, and Uber works in the city. Our Panama City stopover post covers it in more depth.

Day 3: fly to Bocas and the lodge

Fly from Panama City’s Albrook Airport to Bocas del Toro, about 50 minutes. The lodge recommends Air Panama flight 980, arriving around 2:00 pm, when the captain meets you at the airport with a sign. The boat leaves Bocas Town at 3:00 pm and takes 30–35 minutes through the mangrove islands of the Bastimentos National Marine Park. Dinner is a three-course meal, and on special occasions you can ask for a private meal on your porch or at the end of the dock.

Days 4–7: five nights on the beach

Spend the first full day doing nothing: swim off the calm beach, read in a hammock, and sort your plans with the guides at check-in. Then pick two excursions (prices per person as listed in November 2026, subject to change): Isla Zapatillas ($80), mangrove snorkelling ($85) or the Botanical Chocolate Farm Tour ($70). The Salt Creek village tour is included. Kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and snorkel gear are free to use, and an in-house massage therapist can be booked at check-in.

We would keep one evening for a private dinner on the dock. Our Panama honeymoon guide covers the romantic extras.

Day 8: heading home

The boat leaves the lodge around 12:30 pm to catch the recommended flight 981, which leaves Bocas around 2:30 pm. Early pick-ups are not available. If your international flight is the next morning, spend that night in Panama City.

Our Honest Final Word

This itinerary keeps travel to one flight and one boat and puts most of the days on a calm beach. It is not for people who want nightlife or air conditioning in the room, and it needs a few nights, not one. That is why we picked Casa Cayuco as our partner for honeymooners.
