Gifts for People Who Love Lapland: Our Honest 2026 Guide, From Two People Who Live Here

Someone you know talks about Lapland the way other people talk about a person. Here is what to give them — prints of the real thing, an experience booked for their next trip, the presets we edit with, and the small Finnish things we actually use — with prices, and with the ones to skip.

Fireplaces at Night in Winter — print by Joona Heinonen

We get this question every November from friends abroad: “What do I buy for someone obsessed with Lapland?” Usually the person asking has already looked at reindeer-print socks and closed the tab. The problem is that most “Lapland gifts” are things nobody in Lapland owns.

So this is the list we’d actually give. It’s short, it’s priced, and it’s split by budget and by the kind of Lapland-lover you’re buying for — the one who’s been, the one who’s going, and the one who just wants it on the wall. A few links earn us a small commission; it never changes your price, and we’ve said which ones.

Short answer

Under €50: a 30×40 cm print of a night in Lapland — Autumn Northern Lights or Winter Wonderland, Riisitunturi — from about €25 as a poster, or our Lightroom presets at €34 for the person who edits their own photos. Under €150: a framed fine-art print in 50×70 cm, or a booked aurora, husky or reindeer experience for their next trip (from about €99). Skip anything with “Santa” on it unless they’re under ten.

For the one who’s already been: the print of the night

If they’ve stood under the aurora once, they have a photo on their phone that doesn’t do it justice and they know it. Give them the version that does. Joona’s aurora prints are real nights around Rovaniemi and Kittilä — no composites — printed and shipped by Printler, a Swedish print gallery, in sizes from 21×30 to 70×100 cm.

The safe choice is Autumn Northern Lights: green lights doubled in a still lake outside Rovaniemi, soft dusk on the horizon, the print that has found more homes than any other of ours. For someone who did a tour with a campfire and a hut, Northern Lights Teepee will land harder — it’s exactly that night. Posters from about €25; a framed fine-art version in 50×70 is the “big” gift.

For the one who’s going: book the experience

The best Lapland gift we’ve ever seen given was a husky safari, booked and printed out as a card. It’s the gift that makes the trip. Our Activities in Rovaniemi page lists the tours we’d book — aurora hunting, huskies, reindeer, snowmobiles — with live prices; use the code HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 at checkout for 5% off. We wrote a whole post about giving a Lapland experience instead of stuff, including how to do it as a surprise.

Pair it with a 30×40 print of the same thing — a husky day with the Riisitunturi snow print, an aurora tour with the teepee — and you’ve given them a before and an after.

For the photographer: presets and a big black-and-white

Every Lapland trip produces five hundred photos that look flat. Our Lightroom presets are the edits we use on every story on this site — cool Nordic greens, lifted shadows, honest snow — sold as single packs at €34 or the complete collection at €149, delivered instantly for desktop and mobile Lightroom. It’s a gift you can send in an email on the 24th.

For the photographer who already has a look, give them a print they’d never take themselves: the black-and-white White-tailed Eagle in 70×100 cm. Photographers notice paper; this one goes on Hahnemühle fine art.

Under €30: small and real

A 21×30 print. The smallest Printler size, from about €25, in a frame you already own. Flowering Cloudberry and Dwarf Cornel are the two we’d give at this size — botanical, quiet, Lapland without shouting it.

Cloudberry jam. The real thing, not the “arctic berry” gift-shop version. Any Finnish supermarket or online Finnish food shop; it’s the taste of a Lapland August.

A Finnish wool sock. Not reindeer-printed. Plain, thick, from a Finnish maker. Everyone here owns ten pairs.

Salmiakki. Only for someone who’s tried it. That’s the whole gift — the look on their face.

For the home: the calm Nordic print

For the person whose flat is white walls and birch, skip the aurora and give them snow. Winter Wonderland, Riisitunturi — spruces bent under snow on a fell east of Rovaniemi, sun on the horizon at noon — is the most “Lapland” image we have that also behaves in a calm room. Snowy Trees in the Mist is the quieter cousin for a bedroom. Our post on Nordic wall art goes room by room if you want to be sure.

What to skip

Anything with Santa on it, unless the recipient is a child. Rovaniemi is Santa’s official hometown and we love that for families; adults who love Lapland love it for the forest and the dark.

“Northern Lights” photo prints from stock sites. A lot of them are composites or AI. If it matters that the night was real, buy from a photographer who can tell you where they were standing.

Reindeer-antler anything. Fine in a Sámi handicraft shop, sad in a plastic bag from an airport.

A trip booked for December without asking. It’s the most expensive month, and the darkest; February and March are the local’s choice. Our February in Rovaniemi post explains why.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the best gift for someone who loves the Northern Lights?
A print of a real aurora night — Autumn Northern Lights in 50×70 cm is the one we’d give — or a booked aurora tour for their next trip.

How much does a Lapland print cost?
Posters from about €25 for 21×30 cm on Printler; framed fine-art prints in the large sizes cost more. Free shipping over €69, free returns.

Will a print arrive before Christmas?
Printler produces to order within a few working days and ships across Europe, the UK and the US. Order by early December to be safe; a poster sent directly to the recipient is the fastest option.

Can I send the gift straight to them?
Yes — enter their address at Printler checkout. It arrives in a tube or flat box without a price.

Is there a discount?
Printler runs campaigns in November and December; the reduced price shows automatically. For tours, our reader code HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 takes 5% off.

Our final pick

If we had to give one thing: a 50×70 framed Autumn Northern Lights, sent straight to their door, with a note that says which lake. It’s under €150, it’s a real night, and it will still be on the wall in ten years. Everything else on this list is on our prints page or our shop — and if you’re stuck, message us on Instagram and we’ll help you choose.
