A Forest Lodge Wedding Near Rovaniemi: Mirror Suites, Glass Domes and Vows Among the Pines at Invisible Forest Lodge
Invisible Forest Lodge is ten minutes from Rovaniemi and feels as if it were hidden in the woods. We run Rovaniemi Weddings, our own company, and we know the lodge well from the many proposals we have planned there. This guide covers what a small wedding or elopement at the lodge looks like, who it suits, the age rule in winter and how we style it.

Invisible Forest Lodge is a boutique lodge of mirror-clad suites in a pine forest beside the Ounasjoki river, less than ten minutes from Rovaniemi. It suits intimate weddings, elopements and vow renewals: the Invisible Restaurant seats up to 44, the glass dinner domes seat two to six, and the Luxury Log Villa sleeps six to eight for the wedding party. You can say your vows among the pines, at the end of a candle-lit path in the snow or inside your suite. From 1 November to 15 March guests must be 14 or older. We plan and style weddings here as a wedding planning studio and tell you what to expect. See also Forest Wedding in Lapland and Elopement in Lapland.

What Makes a Forest Lodge Wedding Different
A wedding at Invisible Forest Lodge is a small wedding, almost by design. The suites are mirror-clad and hidden among the trees, each with a full glass wall onto the forest, a bed that faces the sky, and its own sauna and hot tub. The dinner domes are private glass domes in the forest. There is no ballroom and no crowd. What you get is quiet, darkness for the northern lights and a lodge where the evening has no reason to feel rushed.
We know this place because many of the proposals we plan at Rovaniemi Weddings, our own company, happen here, at the dome dinner or on the candle-lit path to the suite. This article uses that experience for weddings. It is a guide to what is possible, not a brochure: we say where it works well and where another venue would suit you better.
Where Invisible Forest Lodge Is, and How You Get There
The lodge is in Ketavaara, in a pine forest beside the Ounasjoki river, less than ten minutes from Rovaniemi. That matters for a wedding because the guests arrive from the city or the airport without a long transfer, and because you can combine the day with the rest of the trip: Santa Claus Village, a husky safari or a winter walk. Rovaniemi Airport is close to the city, so most wedding parties land, drop their bags and are in the forest within the hour.
The forest is genuinely dark at night, which is its quiet advantage in aurora season. Late August to April is the northern lights period in Rovaniemi, and in the peak months the lights appear on roughly two of three clear nights. No venue can guarantee them, but a dark forest gives you good odds.
Who It Suits: Sizes, Seasons and the Age Rule
Capacity is the first thing to check. The Invisible Restaurant seats up to 44 guests, the glass domes seat two to six, and the accommodation is a mix of suites and log cabins for two to four guests, a four-bedroom Luxury Log Villa for six to eight and a glass Aurora Hut for two. So the lodge works best for:

- Elopements for two, with a styled setting in the forest and a dome dinner.
- Intimate weddings of 10 to 25 guests, with the restaurant as the dinner room.
- Vow renewals and anniversary celebrations.
- Weddings of up to 44 for a seated dinner, when the lodge is arranged as a private event.
The age rule. From 1 November to 15 March the lodge only admits guests aged 14 and over. From mid-March to the end of October, families are welcome. If children are part of your wedding, plan for spring, summer or autumn, or choose another venue for a winter date. We check the current policy with the lodge for every booking.
The lodge is open all year, so the season is yours to choose. Winter has snow and aurora; summer has long light and green forest; September has autumn colour. Our guide to the whole Rovaniemi year gives the month-by-month picture.
Where the Ceremony Happens
There are three ceremony settings at the lodge, each with its own feeling.
- Among the pines around the lodge. A hand-built arch, lanterns and, in winter, the snow underfoot. Best for couples who want the forest as the backdrop.
- At the end of a candle-lit path in the snow. We line the path with candles and lanterns, and the ceremony waits at the end. It is a beautiful entrance and a short walk.
- Inside your suite. For two, with the forest outside the glass wall. This is the version for an elopement or a vow renewal.
Outdoor ceremonies in winter are kept short, usually 15 to 20 minutes, with warm drinks and blankets for guests. The suites and the restaurant are the warm places to move to afterwards. A civil ceremony in Finland is performed by a district court judge or another authorised official, almost anywhere and in English; for the paperwork, see our guide to getting married in Finland.

Dinner: The Restaurant or the Dome
Two dinner formats suit a wedding here. The Invisible Restaurant serves an Arctic tasting menu from the hot-rock grill and can host up to 44 guests as a private wedding dinner. And the glass domes are the extraordinary option for two to six: a private dinner in a glowing dome in the forest, which works for the couple’s own dinner, the immediate family or the witnesses.

A frequent pattern for a small wedding: the ceremony in the late afternoon, the guests in the restaurant for a long dinner, and the couple finishing the night with a quiet dome or sauna. We coordinate the timeline with the lodge so the courses, the candles and the photographer are in the right place at the right minute. Menus and prices come from the lodge, and we agree them with you in advance.
A sample timeline for a winter weekday wedding, to show how the pieces fit. The hours depend on the date, because daylight in December is short and in March long:
- Late morning: the couple get ready in their suite, with styling and flowers delivered by our team.
- Early afternoon: the photographer joins for portraits among the snowy pines while the light is best.
- Mid afternoon: guests arrive and the ceremony takes place, 15 to 20 minutes, outdoors or inside the suite.
- Late afternoon: a toast, group photographs, then everyone moves indoors.
- Evening: a long dinner in the restaurant, then the sauna, the hot tub or the dome for the couple.
How We Style a Forest Wedding
Styling is what we do. For a forest setting we keep the lodge’s natural look and add layers rather than replace it.

- The arch. A hand-built wooden arch with greenery or florals, set in the snow or among the trees.
- Light. Candles, lanterns and warm string lights, because a Lapland afternoon in winter is short.
- Flowers. We work with high-quality artificial and preserved flowers suited to Arctic conditions, because fresh petals freeze at −30 °C. Bouquets are made by hand in our Rovaniemi studio.
- Table and suite styling. A candle-lit table in the restaurant, a bed dressed in rose petals, a styled dome table for the couple.
- Set-up and removal. Our team installs and removes everything, so the lodge looks as it did when we leave.
What It Costs, Realistically
We do not publish a package price for weddings because each one is made to measure. What we can say honestly comes from our general cost guide: a Lapland wedding can range from about €5,000 for an intimate elopement to €30,000 or more for a larger celebration, and many beautifully styled events for 20 to 50 guests fall between €10,000 and €20,000. Full styling packages typically run from €1,500 to €5,000, with elopement styling from around €800. The lodge’s own rates for suites, the restaurant and the domes come from the lodge directly, and we help you compare.
Our complete elopement guide breaks down more of the budget, and Lapland Wedding Cost on our site covers the ranges in full. A 10% contingency fund is sensible.
How to Plan It With Us
For weddings the process runs in five steps.
- Tell us about your day: date, guest count, wishes and ideas.
- Consultation and estimate: a meeting in person or online to talk through ideas and the venue, with a price estimate during the call or shortly after.
- Agreement and deposit to secure your date.
- Planning together: suppliers sourced and booked, options presented. You choose, and we handle the bookings and emails.
- The wedding day: our team installs every detail, runs the timeline and quietly solves the small things.
If you only need part of this, such as styling or on-the-day coordination, we can do that. Start at Contact Rovaniemi Weddings, and read more about Weddings and the other venues we know best. We reply within one business day.
FAQ
How many guests can Invisible Forest Lodge host for a wedding?
The Invisible Restaurant seats up to 44 guests, the glass domes seat two to six, and accommodation ranges from suites for two to a Luxury Log Villa for six to eight. It suits elopements and intimate weddings rather than large parties.
Are children allowed at the lodge?
From 1 November to 15 March the lodge only admits guests aged 14 and over. From mid-March to the end of October, families are welcome. We confirm the current policy with the lodge.
Can we have the ceremony outdoors in winter?
Yes, among the pines or on a candle-lit path in the snow. Outdoor winter ceremonies are kept to 15 to 20 minutes, with blankets and warm drinks, and the suites or restaurant nearby.
Is the wedding legally valid in Finland?
A civil ceremony performed by a district court judge or another authorised official is legal and can be conducted in English. Foreign couples apply for an examination of impediments through the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, which usually takes about seven working days and costs around €60. Start three to four months ahead.
Can we see the northern lights from the lodge?
The forest is dark at night, so conditions are good in the aurora season from late August to April. The lights are never guaranteed.
Can you also plan the proposal and the wedding at the same venue?
Yes. Many of our proposals take place at the lodge, and some couples return to marry or renew their vows. We can plan both.
Our Honest Final Word
Rovaniemi Weddings is our company, so we will keep this short and clear. Invisible Forest Lodge is a very good choice for a small, quiet wedding in the forest. It is not for a large party, for families with young children in winter, or for couples who want a grand hall. For those, we would suggest another venue, and the other places we know are in our venue guide.
If the forest speaks to you, start with Invisible Forest Lodge and our Forest Wedding in Lapland page, then tell us your date and guest count through Contact Rovaniemi Weddings. We reply within one business day.
