Why 14 February 2027 works
14 February 2027 is a Sunday, and Sunday is one of the nights our code covers. In practice, with the hotels closed Monday to Wednesday in Davos Klosters and Zermatt after 3 January, Sunday and Thursday are the nights where the code applies; Gstaad also has Monday. Iglu-Dorf says Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays book out fastest, so a Sunday is both a good and a competitive choice. We cannot see availability, so do not assume it: check the calendar on iglu-dorf.com.
Valentine’s weekend is not the only option. A Thursday in the same week, or a Sunday a week later, gives the same igloo for less competition.
What a romantic night looks like
The Romantic Igloo is for two, with a double sleeping bag by default (two single bags on request, free). It is decorated with snow and ice art, sheepskins and light, and Iglu-Dorf’s photos show hearts and carved animals in the igloos. The evening includes a welcome drink and aperitif tray, igloo tour, all-you-can-eat cheese fondue, a private hot tub and sauna slot, a night walk or snowshoeing, tea served to the sleeping bag and breakfast.
Extras for Valentine’s
The Gstaad checkout lists these extras, in CHF: surprise cake 15, rose in an ice block 29, rose petals 25, champagne in the room (0.375 L) 52, and Candle Light — fondue with a bottle of wine at a table for two — 99. Gstaad’s Mystery-Igloo puzzle game is CHF 35 per person, paid on the spot. Extras differ by village, so check the checkout for yours. Davos’ photos show a rose frozen in an ice block next to the bed.
Which village for two
Zermatt for the Matterhorn backdrop and a 30-minute train ride. Davos Klosters for the biggest village and a quiet Parsenn setting. The unromantic details
About −2 to +2 °C inside, shared dry toilets, no private bathroom (the Plus version is outside our code), a sleeping bag instead of a duvet. It is romantic in the way a night in a snow cave is: cosy, unusual, a little cold. If you are not sure, choose the TinyLodge.
Proposal or anniversary
Couples sometimes ask whether an igloo works for a proposal. It can, but Iglu-Dorf does not publish a proposal package, so ask them directly. Keep the ring in an inner pocket where it will not freeze, and agree the plan with the guides in advance.

How the evening runs
Meeting times: Davos 4:00 pm at Weissfluhjoch, Gstaad 4:30 pm at the village bar, Zermatt 4:30 pm at Rotenboden station. Breakfast is the next morning. Cable car or train tickets are not included.
A Sunday Valentine itinerary
A simple version: arrive in your village’s valley town on Sunday morning, have a late lunch, and take the afternoon train or cable car to meet at 4:00 pm (Davos Klosters, Weissfluhjoch) or 4:30 pm (Gstaad village bar, Zermatt Rotenboden). The welcome drink and aperitif tray come first, then the igloo tour, then the fondue. After dinner, the hot tub and sauna slot is the romantic part: warm water, cold air, mountains. Tea arrives in the sleeping bag the next morning, breakfast follows, and you are back in the valley on Monday morning.
Plan for the return day. Because your night is Sunday, you leave on Monday, which suits a long weekend or a flexible schedule better than a work day.
If 14 February is booked out
Iglu-Dorf says it books out quickly on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. If 14 February is gone, the other nights in the same fortnight are Sunday 7 February, Sunday 21 February, and Thursdays 11 and 18 February 2027, all inside the code window. These are subject to what the live calendar shows as open. A Thursday night is a quieter way to celebrate, and you can say the date is Valentine’s week. Gstaad also has Monday nights in practice, which makes 15 February a possibility there.

Bring a small printed note for your partner, a thermos, a warm hat as a gift or a playlist on your phone. Take photos at dusk and at dawn. Ask the guides for the best place to see the sunset on your evening walk. Keep expectations modest: we cannot promise clear skies or a particular view, only a night in an unusual place.

- Find the “Promo-Code” box (“Do you want to redeem a promo code?”), type HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 and press Add. Check that the total drops by 5% before you confirm. The “Voucher” box above it is for gift vouchers, not for our code.
- Confirm and pay. You can cancel free of charge up to 60 days before the night; after that Iglu-Dorf charges 10% (59–30 days), 50% (29–7 days) and 100% (under 7 days or no-show), with refunds preferably as vouchers. Discounts are not cumulative.
Who should skip it
An igloo night is not for everyone, and we would rather say so now. It is not a good fit for children under about 6 (Iglu-Dorf recommends the stay from age 6 and offers no changing tables, highchairs or childcare), for anyone who needs a private bathroom in the night (the toilets are shared and dry; the “Plus” igloo with a private toilet is not part of our code), for people who cannot walk in snow with a backpack, or for light sleepers who dislike sleeping at about 0 °C. Wheelchairs and limited mobility are not supported either. And if you can only travel on a Friday or Saturday, the code does not apply to those nights.
