This guide is built from Iglu-Dorf’s own pages, prices and conditions — what is included, how the villages work and what each igloo is like come straight from the operator, never invented.
An igloo night with Iglu-Dorf is worth it if you want a one-off experience — snow bed, fondue, hot tub, night walk — and not worth it if you want comfort. Prices start from CHF 438 (TinyLodge), CHF 538 (Romantic Igloo) and CHF 627 (Family & Friends Igloo, three people). What you pay for
The Romantic Igloo is from CHF 538 per night for two; the Family & Friends Igloo from CHF 627 for three people with extra guests charged separately; the TinyLodge from CHF 438 for two. These are prices as published in November 2026. For that price you get the stay, the fondue, the hot tub and sauna, the night walk, the tea and the breakfast, but not the train or cable car.

The case for
- a genuinely unusual night in snow
- the evening programme is included
- the same price in three villages
- published conditions and free cancellation 60 days before

The case against
- about 0 °C inside
- shared dry toilets
- no private bathroom in the deal
- travel and cable car costs on top
- one night only recommended

Compared with a hotel night
A hotel gives you comfort; an igloo gives you a story. We would not choose it as our only night in Switzerland, but as one night in a longer trip.

Who gets the most from it
Couples, friends, families with children 6 and over, and winter lovers.

The Sunday-to-Thursday angle
The code works Sunday to Thursday, 4 January to 4 April 2027; in practice Sunday and Thursday nights (Gstaad also Monday) — the live calendar on iglu-dorf.com shows exactly which nights are open.
Cheaper alternatives
The TinyLodge — Gstaad5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 from CHF 438 gives you the village and a warm bed.

What the money buys in practice
For one night you receive a bed in snow, a welcome drink and aperitif tray, an igloo tour, an all-you-can-eat fondue, a hot tub and sauna slot, a night walk or snowshoe trip, tea in the sleeping bag and breakfast. It is a bundled experience, so compare it to an evening activity plus a night out, not only to a hotel room. The Romantic Igloo price covers two people, so each person pays half of CHF 538 before any extras, travel or lift tickets.

Which product is the best value
The TinyLodge — Gstaad5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 is the cheapest from CHF 438 and the warmest. The Romantic Igloo — Zermatt5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 is the classic for couples. The Family & Friends Igloo — Davos Klosters5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 spreads CHF 627 for three people and an extra charge for more across a group, which is why it suits friends and families. We would not buy the Plus versions with a private toilet using our code, because they are outside the deal.

A five-question decision test
- Do you enjoy winter and being a little cold?
- Can you walk 10–20 minutes on snow with a backpack?
- Can you accept shared dry toilets for one night?
- Do your dates fall on a Sunday to Thursday between 4 January and 4 April 2027?
- Will you book directly with Iglu-Dorf and type HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 at checkout?
Four or five yeses means it is probably worth it. Two or fewer means a hotel is the better choice.
What reviews cannot tell you
We have not slept at Iglu-Dorf yet and we do not quote reviews or scores. What we can do is read the published conditions and tell you where the trade-offs are: the cold, the toilets, the travel, the one-night format. Treat this as a planning guide, not a testimonial.
Who it is worth it for, one by one
Couples celebrating something. A birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s week. The Romantic Igloo has snow and ice art, a double sleeping bag by default and a private hot tub slot. It is the classic reason to go.
Families with children aged 6 and over. The Family & Friends Igloo gives you one big shared bed. Gstaad is the gentlest village. It is a poor choice for toddlers.
Friends travelling in a group of four to six. The shared igloo and the all-you-can-eat fondue are social by design.
Solo travellers. Iglu-Dorf suggests booking the Romantic Igloo at the price for two, which is rarely good value.
Comfort seekers. A hotel is better value, and the TinyLodge is the compromise.
The hidden costs
The price per night does not include the train or cable car, the visitor’s tax, extra food and drinks, or parking. For Zermatt you buy an Igloo Ticket unless you hold a ski pass; in Gstaad tickets are bought at the valley station; in Davos you ride the Parsennbahn. Luggage lockers at Zermatt station are chargeable. Budget for a warm hotel night either side if you arrive from far away, since the igloo meeting time is mid-afternoon and you may need to arrive the day before.
The 60-day rule and booking early
You can cancel free of charge up to 60 days before the night. After that Iglu-Dorf charges 10% (59 to 30 days), 50% (29 to 7 days) and 100% under 7 days or for a no-show, with refunds preferably as vouchers. Travel insurance is recommended. If you book with a commission partner code, Iglu-Dorf’s terms say the refund is minus the commission and only as a voucher, so read the cancellation terms before you confirm. We mention this because honest advice includes the boring parts.
Our verdict
If you picture the night and smile, book it, on a Sunday or Thursday between 4 January and 4 April 2027, directly with Iglu-Dorf with HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5. If you picture the cold and wince, spend the money on a hotel and a fondue in town. Neither is wrong. The one wrong choice is booking an igloo night expecting a hotel.
How to book your igloo night with HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5
There are no special links or tracking cookies in this partnership. The code typed at checkout is the only thing that gives you the 5% and registers the booking as ours, so it is the one step not to skip. We are Iglu-Dorf’s affiliate partner and earn a small commission when you book with our code; it costs you nothing extra.
- Pick your village and igloo. Open Iglu-Dorf5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 or the quick-booking page on iglu-dorf.com and choose the village and the igloo type.
- Add your guests first (adults 16+, teenagers 10–15, children up to 9). The date calendar only appears after that. Choose a Sunday-to-Thursday night between 4 January and 4 April 2027 — in practice Sunday and Thursday nights (Gstaad also Monday) — the live calendar on iglu-dorf.com shows exactly which nights are open.
- Fill in guest details and extras: single sleeping bags instead of a double (free), a dog (CHF 25), a vegetarian or pasta dinner alternative, a surprise cake or a rose in ice.
- Find the “Promo-Code” box (“Do you want to redeem a promo code?”), type HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 and press Add. Check that the total drops by 5% before you confirm. The “Voucher” box above it is for gift vouchers, not for our code.
- Confirm and pay. You can cancel free of charge up to 60 days before the night; after that Iglu-Dorf charges 10% (59–30 days), 50% (29–7 days) and 100% (under 7 days or no-show), with refunds preferably as vouchers. Discounts are not cumulative.
For the Family & Friends Igloo in Zermatt, which Iglu-Dorf currently takes by enquiry only, write to info@iglu-dorf.com or call +41 41 612 27 28 and put the code in your message.
Who should skip it
An igloo night is not for everyone, and we would rather say so now. It is not a good fit for children under about 6 (Iglu-Dorf recommends the stay from age 6 and offers no changing tables, highchairs or childcare), for anyone who needs a private bathroom in the night (the toilets are shared and dry; the “Plus” igloo with a private toilet is not part of our code), for people who cannot walk in snow with a backpack, or for light sleepers who dislike sleeping at about 0 °C. Wheelchairs and limited mobility are not supported either. And if you can only travel on a Friday or Saturday, the code does not apply to those nights.
