This guide is built from Iglu-Dorf’s own pages, prices and conditions — what is included, how the villages work and what each igloo is like come straight from the operator, never invented.
On an igloo night in Switzerland you use shared dry toilets in the village centre, brush your teeth there with sanitiser at hand, and do not shower in the igloo. Iglu-Dorf says Gstaad and Zermatt have running water and showers, Davos Klosters does not, and a hot tub and sauna are included in the evening. Iglu-Dorf — Davos Klosters, Gstaad & Zermatt
Romantic igloos for two, Family & Friends igloos for 3–6 and the Tiny Lodge in Gstaad. Stays 4 Jan – 4 Apr 2027, Sunday to Thursday nights.
The toilets
The igloo itself has no toilet. Iglu-Dorf’s FAQ says there are public dry toilets in all its Swiss villages, in the village centre, and that you can brush your teeth there and find hand sanitiser. Plan a short walk through the snow corridors at night with a headlamp. If you sleep lightly, put it next to your bag.

A private toilet exists only in the ‘Plus’ igloos, which are not covered by our code. The TinyLodge in Gstaad is a heated cabin but, per Iglu-Dorf, guests use the village restrooms there as well.
Washing and showers
Iglu-Dorf’s FAQ lists running water and showers at Gstaad and Zermatt and none at Davos Klosters. Facilities can change, so ask Iglu-Dorf when you book if it matters to you. The reason Iglu-Dorf recommends only one night is exactly this: no warm rooms, running water or showers in the igloo itself.

What you do get is the evening wellness: mixed sauna in all villages and a hot tub in Davos Klosters, Gstaad and Zermatt, reserved for overnight guests with a private slot per igloo agreed on arrival. Bring a bath towel, swimwear and flip-flops.
Staying warm at night
Iglu-Dorf gives the temperature as between −2 and +2 °C, so it is cold but steady. Wear dry base layers or long underwear, dry socks, and a hat to bed, and do not bring your own sleeping bag: the expedition bag and liner are provided. Fleece blankets are available on request. Do the sauna early so you go to bed warm, but not sweaty.
The warm room and the evening
Davos, Gstaad and Zermatt each have a heated wooden kota next to the igloos for the evening. Dinner is the all-you-can-eat cheese fondue, which Iglu-Dorf describes as lactose-free with less than 0.1% alcohol; Davos offers a vegetable-stew alternative, Gstaad and Zermatt pasta with tomato sauce, to be requested at booking. Extra drinks are paid on site by card.

Iglu-Dorf — Davos Klosters, Gstaad & Zermatt
Live availability and prices on Iglu-Dorf’s own booking page — enter the code at checkout. Stays 4 Jan – 4 Apr 2027, Sunday to Thursday nights.
The morning after
Morning tea is served to your sleeping bag. Breakfast in Davos is at the mountain restaurant from 8:30 am until 10:00 am; Zermatt’s buffet is at Hotel Riffelhaus until 9:30, about 15 minutes downhill on foot from 8:00; Gstaad serves breakfast at 8:00 or 9:00 depending on your booking. There is no fixed check-out time in the arrival notes, you leave after breakfast, and extra luggage can stay in the village at your own risk. Pack a backpack, not a suitcase.
Is it for you?
If a shared dry toilet and a cold bed are deal-breakers, take the TinyLodge or a hotel. If you are fine with it, the bathroom becomes a small adventure rather than a problem. Our cold guide and packing list cover the rest.
Choosing a night
Our code covers stays from 4 January to 4 April 2027, Sunday to Thursday nights only. In practice that means Sunday and Thursday nights (Gstaad also Monday) — the live calendar on iglu-dorf.com shows exactly which nights are open. A quieter midweek night also means less queueing for the toilets and the hot tub.
How to book your igloo night with HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5
A few minutes at the booking page is all it takes. There are no special links or tracking cookies in this partnership. The code typed at checkout is the only thing that gives you the 5% and registers the booking as ours, so this is the one step not to skip.
- Choose village and igloo. Use the links in this guide, or start at Iglu-Dorf5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 and pick Davos Klosters, Gstaad or Zermatt, then Romantic Igloo, Family & Friends Igloo or (Gstaad only) TinyLodge.
- Add your guests first (adults 16+, teenagers 10–15, children up to 9) — the date calendar only appears after that. Pick a Sunday-to-Thursday night between 4 January and 4 April 2027. In practice that means Sunday and Thursday nights (Gstaad also Monday) — the live calendar on iglu-dorf.com shows exactly which nights are open.
- Fill in guest details and extras — single sleeping bags instead of a double, a dog, the vegetarian dinner alternative, a rose in ice.
- Scroll to “Promo-Code — Do you want to redeem a promo code?”, type HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5, press Add and check that the total has dropped by 5% before you confirm. The field above it, “Voucher”, is for gift vouchers, not for our code.
- Confirm. You can cancel free of charge up to 60 days before the night; after that Iglu-Dorf charges 10% (59–30 days), 50% (29–7 days) and 100% (under 7 days or no-show), with refunds preferably as vouchers. Discounts are not cumulative.
For the Zermatt Family & Friends Igloo, send the request to info@iglu-dorf.com or call +41 41 612 27 28 and write the code in your message. Full transparency: we are Iglu-Dorf’s affiliate partner and earn a small commission when you book with our code. It costs you nothing extra — you pay 5% less.
Who should skip it
Anyone who needs a private bathroom at night, children under about 6, people who cannot walk in snow with a backpack. For everyone else, our full Iglu-Dorf igloo guide explains the full night.
