We went through the operator’s property page and booking engine to show who this villa suits, what a winter week was quoted at, and where the north-coast homes do better.

Why We Would Look South for a Winter Week

Most of our Lanzarote research points families to the quiet north-east, but the island is more than one holiday. Lanzarote Retreats also rents villas on the south coast, and if what you want from a January week is a private heated pool, a hot tub, restaurants a short drive away and a marina to wander, Villa Las Palmitas is the home we would put on the shortlist first. We have not stayed there ourselves. Everything below comes from the operator’s live property page and the booking engine, which we checked in October 2026.

The reason the pool matters is the season. According to the weather table Lanzarote Retreats publishes, January averages 18 °C and February 18 °C, and the operator puts the December-to-March average at 21 °C. The Atlantic is cool rather than warm in those months, roughly 18–20 °C, so a pool that the operator says is heated all year to 27 °C or more is the difference between children who swim every day and children who look at the water. We live in Rovaniemi, where January is closer to −20 °C, so we are not complaining about 18 °C, but we do pick homes with a heated pool when the trip is in winter.

The other filter is your group. This is a four-bedroom house for up to eight guests plus one infant, which suits two families sharing, three generations, or a group of friends who want a private base rather than an apartment block.

The House: Four Bedrooms, Refurbished in 2025

The operator describes Villa Las Palmitas5% off · code inside as a large private home on a secluded, walled plot with panoramic sea views, refurbished in 2025 with new shower rooms and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. The listing gives it four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a maximum of eight guests including children, plus one infant in a travel cot. Two of the bedrooms have twin beds with fitted wardrobes and share a full family bathroom, which is useful to know if you are planning who sleeps where: that pair of twin rooms is the natural place for children or for two friends who do not want to share a double.

Downstairs and outside, the lounge, dining area and kitchen are open plan, with screens that can open the space up or divide it. The living room has a fireplace and large doors onto the main terrace; the dining area seats eight; there is a separate games room with a table-tennis table, a TV with a DVD library, board games and free wifi. Outside you get a full-sized gas barbecue, a broad shaded verandah for meals, parking on site, and a garden covered in black volcanic picón and planted with the mature palm trees that give the villa its name.

The operator lists off-grid solar electricity as the villa’s eco feature. There is no air conditioning or heating in most Lanzarote Retreats homes, which the company explains by the mild 18–28 °C range across the year; the fireplace is the cosy answer to a cool January evening.

The Heated Pool and Hot Tub

The pool is the headline. The operator’s page describes a 10 × 5 m private pool, heated to 27 °C or more all year and treated by a salt-water chlorination system installed in 2023, which it says is kinder to skin and hair. In the company-wide pool list, Villa Las Palmitas is one of two homes (with Finca Panorama) whose pool is electrically heated, as opposed to the solar-heated pools at Finca de Arrieta and Villa Palacio. A hot tub installed for 2024 sits on the terrace, and the pool has its own renovated terrace with wide, easy-access steps.

One detail to ask about before you book: the property page says the pool was scheduled for refurbishment in January 2026, at which point the shallow built-in children’s pool would be removed. We cannot tell you what the pool looks like today, and the operator says new photos would be added once the work was done. If you are travelling with a toddler, send Lanzarote Retreats a message on WhatsApp and ask for the current layout and depth, and remember that a heated pool needs a watchful adult whatever the age of the children.

Where It Is: Between Puerto Calero and Puerto del Carmen

The villa sits on the south coast, six minutes by car from Puerto Calero marina and seven from Puerto del Carmen, so this is a different holiday from the fishing villages of the north. The operator’s local guide describes Puerto Calero as a few kilometres from the busy resort of Puerto del Carmen but a world away in atmosphere: a marina built from the 1980s, with cafés and restaurants overlooking the boats, upmarket boutiques, and the departure point for catamaran trips, submarine excursions, sport-fishing boats and dive schools. Puerto del Carmen is the bigger resort with the full range of bars, shops and beach life.

The listing says a car is not essential but is recommended, and we would take that seriously: it is a walled villa in its own grounds, not a flat above a promenade. Unlike the Finca de Arrieta homes, Villa Las Palmitas is not on the operator’s list of properties that can be paired with the private airport transfer and the free five-seater car, so plan on hiring a car through Plus Car, the operator’s listed partner, or another provider, and ask Lanzarote Retreats about transfers when you book.

If your priority is a calm golden beach a short walk away, the north is the better match. If it is evenings out, a marina and a heated pool in your own garden, the south coast wins.

What the Booking Engine Quoted

Prices are a dated snapshot, not a promise. We asked the operator’s booking engine for 7-night quotes on 23 October 2026, and the numbers are below. Rates change with dates and availability, so always check the live calendar on the property page for your own dates.

5–12 Dec 20262 adults€1,978about €283
10–17 Jan 20272 adults€2,989€427
24–31 Jan 20272 adults€3,045€435
7–14 Mar 20272 adults€3,273about €468
14–21 Mar 20278 adults€6,382about €912

Two things stand out. First, the 10–17 January quote was €2,989 whether we asked for 2 adults, 4 adults plus 2 children, or 8 adults, so for a full house of eight that is roughly €374 per person for the week, before any discount; for two adults it is plainly a lot of villa. Second, the mid-March week quoted for eight adults was more than double the 7–14 March quote for two, and we do not know why. Ask the operator before you assume a date is cheap or dear. These are our samples, the cheapest per-night figure in them is €427 outside the December window, and your final price depends on your dates and guests.

How It Compares with the Other Group Villas

If you are weighing up Lanzarote Retreats’ large villas, here is how the main choices line up, using the operator’s page details and the same booking-engine snapshot for 10–17 January 2027.

Casa Pino5% off · code inside10 adults + 2 children510 × 4 m, solar cover€2,361

On price alone, the other two are cheaper for this week, and they sleep more people. Finca Panorama and Casa Pino both carry the operator’s note that the price shown is based on adults only and that additional charges apply for children aged 3 to 17, whereas our quotes for Las Palmitas did not change when we added two children. Finca Panorama sits in La Asomada with views towards Fuerteventura and, per the listing, a car is essential; Casa Pino is in the north, a 20-minute walk from Arrieta beach. If you want the marinas, Las Palmitas is the pick; if you want the beach on foot, look north.

Practical Details Before You Book

The operator’s terms apply as they do across Lanzarote Retreats. Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out by 10:00, with a guaranteed early check-in or late check-out available for 50% of the nightly rate, subject to availability. A 30% non-refundable deposit is due at booking and the balance 30 days before arrival; cancelling forfeits the deposit and inside 30 days the full amount is retained, so travel insurance is sensible. Linen, towels, arrival and departure clean, utilities and wifi are included. The home is non-smoking, no pets are allowed, and a card authorisation is taken as a damage deposit.

For families with small children, Lanzarote Retreats lends a travel cot, high chair, changing mat, potty, toddler step and baby bath on request, and child car seats in all sizes for its cars at no charge. Tell the office your children’s ages when you book. The operator also lists extras such as babysitting, private chef on request and excursions, which can take the strain off a group holiday.

FAQ

How many people does Villa Las Palmitas sleep?

The operator lists a maximum of eight guests including children, plus one infant in a travel cot, across four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Is the pool heated in winter?

The operator says the 10 × 5 m pool is electrically heated to 27 °C or more all year. The page also mentions a pool refurbishment scheduled for January 2026, so ask the office for the current layout before booking.

Do I need a car?

The listing says a car is not essential but recommended: Puerto Calero is six minutes away by car and Puerto del Carmen seven. It is not one of the homes included in the operator’s free-car airport transfer package.

What did the booking engine quote for a week?

On 23 October 2026 it quoted €1,978 for 5–12 December 2026 and €2,989 for 10–17 January 2027 for 2 adults, with the same January total for 8 adults. Live prices depend on your dates, so check the calendar.

Is there air conditioning or heating?

Not in most Lanzarote Retreats homes; the operator cites temperatures of around 18–28 °C all year, and the lounge has a fireplace. Arrecife Sands is the only property with air conditioning.

What is the cancellation policy?

A 30% non-refundable deposit is taken at booking and the balance is due 30 days before arrival. Cancelling after the deposit forfeits it, and inside 30 days the full amount is retained, so the operator recommends travel insurance.

Our Honest Final Word

We have not stayed at Villa Las Palmitas, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can say from the operator’s own details is that it is a well-equipped, private, heated-pool villa in a part of Lanzarote that is good for evenings out and boat trips, and that for a group of eight the weekly quote works out as reasonable per person. The caveats are real: a car is recommended, it is not part of the free-car transfer package, the pool was due for refurbishment in January 2026, and the cheaper big villas sleep more.
