A unique tour, for us, is one you cannot do in most places, that tells you something about the Arctic, and that you would struggle to organise yourself. That rules out a normal sightseeing bus. It includes tours with reindeer herders, with a Sámi guide telling stories, with sled dogs, or with a boat on the open sea.

It is a long day with a lot of time outdoors, feeding the reindeer and learning about Sámi culture. We recommend it for families and groups who want one big experience in a day, and for travellers who value a slow pace.

Huskies: the private dog-sledding experience

The Private Dog Sledding – Husky Experience5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 is NOK 95,000 per group, 5–6 hours, ages 7+, with pickup at 08:45. It includes a guide-musher, transport to and from the activity, a winter suit with snow boots and hot drinks.

It is a significant investment and not for every budget. We would suggest it for a large group celebrating something, where the price per guest comes down. If you are a couple on a budget, a daytime hike or a fjord tour will give you a more affordable memorable day.

Snow and speed: the private snowmobile safari

The Private Snowmobile Safari is NOK 50,000 per group for a 7-hour day, for ages 7+. It includes scenic bus and ferry transfers of about 70 minutes each way, English-speaking snowmobile guides, a 60–90 minute snowmobile safari with 2 guests per snowmobile, a thermal winter suit, boots, gloves and a helmet, hot soup and a full meal.

Whales: the private whale-watching day

Private Whale Watching is listed at NOK 120,000 per group for 7–8 hours, October to January, for up to 12 people, with a start at 08:30. It includes a guide and skipper, a boat charter, lunch and snacks, and optional snorkelling with orcas.

Whale sightings are never guaranteed, and the price reflects a full boat charter. Like the snowmobile safari, it is arranged through the operator rather than the online promo-code flow, so our code does not apply.

Affordable unique: the evening snowshoe hike
