Villa Palacio & Yurts in Lanzarote: Our Guide to the 21-Adult Villa Estate for Big Families and Group Holidays (5% Off)

Ten bedrooms, two pools, a hot tub and views over Arrieta Bay: Villa Palacio & Yurts is the biggest home Lanzarote Retreats offers, built for three-generation trips, milestone birthdays and friend groups. We went through the operator’s page and booking engine to work out who it really suits, what it costs in winter and how it compares with the other big villas.

What Villa Palacio & Yurts Actually Is

Most holiday homes in Lanzarote sleep four to eight people. Villa Palacio & Yurts5% off · code inside is the exception, and the operator describes it as three separate accommodations in one: the main villa, a group of Palacio yurts, and a garden bedroom. Together they make 10 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. Lanzarote Retreats says the estate can hold up to 21 adults in beds plus a further 6 children on z-beds, which puts it in a category of its own on the island.

It stands on the mountainside at Tabayesco, a hamlet of two roads, a tiny chapel and a village social club, in a green valley above Arrieta. The operator’s text talks about uninterrupted views out to sea over the north-east coast, and describes an open-plan, light-filled interior with sea, pool and garden views from almost every angle on the ground floor. We have not stayed here — Joona and Alla live in Rovaniemi, Finland, and we research these homes and send readers — so we cannot tell you how the sofas feel. What we can do is read the operator’s page and quotes carefully and tell you what matters when you are deciding for a group.

The shape of the estate is its main selling point. Instead of twenty people sharing one roof, a three-generation family can spread out: grandparents in a villa bedroom with an en-suite, teenagers in a yurt, a couple with a baby in the garden bedroom. Everyone meets at the pool and in the big kitchen and dining area, then retreats when they want quiet.

Who Sleeps Where: Ten Bedrooms, Two Wings, Three Types of Bed

According to the operator, the villa has six bedrooms. The entrance leads straight into the kitchen, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen with a vast open-plan dining area. From there you step up to the elevated lounge, where two bedrooms with king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms sit on the same level. A sweeping staircase lit by LED lighting leads to two more bedrooms on the next level, the first with a king-size bed and a private terrace. The three Palacio yurts and the garden bedroom bring the total to ten.

For planning, the numbers to remember are these: 21 adults is the maximum in the bedrooms, and the 6 children are on z-beds, so a party of 27 is the ceiling. Most real groups will be smaller. A realistic set-up is four to five couples plus a handful of children, or two grandparent couples, three adult children with partners and a band of grandchildren. If you are fewer than about ten, it is worth comparing the cheaper big villas below before you commit.

One practical point from the operator’s notes: the size of Palacio means the team often prefers to have staff on the grounds as extra support for a celebration, group or family event. If you are planning a wedding anniversary, a significant birthday or a yoga week, say so when you enquire, because the arrangement for staff presence is made through the reservations office.

The Pools, the Hot Tub and the Games

The outdoor offer is what makes the estate work for a big group. The operator lists a solar-heated swimming pool, a separate plunge pool, a hot tub, a pool table and table tennis, plus a barbecue, free wifi and a private garden and terrace. Lanzarote Retreats says its Palacio and Finca de Arrieta pools are solar-heated, which in winter means the water is tempered by the sun rather than held at a set temperature, so we would bring a swimsuit and treat a January dip as refreshing rather than guaranteed warm. Ask the office what temperature the pool has been running at before your dates.

The hot tub is the part that suits a winter trip: 18 to 20 °C air on a January evening, a glass of something, and the lights of the coast below. The pool table and table tennis matter more than they sound. With twenty people and a mix of ages, having something to do under cover or in the evening stops the villa from turning into twenty phone screens.

One safety note, which the operator itself flags: the pool is easily accessible from the terrace, so parents with children or non-swimmers should think about supervision. A pool fence or gate can be provided; ask for it when you book, not on arrival. With six children on z-beds in the plan, we would treat that request as non-negotiable.

Tabayesco: The Location, the Beach and the Car Question

Tabayesco sits in the Valley of Temisa, which the operator calls the greenest part of the island: terraced farmland, vines and fruit trees, birds including kestrels and Barbary partridge, and a winding road that is well known among cyclists. It feels, in the operator’s words, like a real Canarian village a million miles from the tourist hubs, yet it is only about 25 minutes from the airport.

The listing gives the walk to Arrieta beach, the restaurants and the mojito bar as 20 minutes, with a note that a car is not essential. Another line on the page puts the beach about 1 km away. The walk back uphill is the honest part: it is a hillside, so plan for children and grandparents to ride at least one way. Arrieta itself is a 400-inhabitant fishing village in Haría municipality with seafront fish restaurants, a pizzeria, a supermarket and the 810 m golden beach of Playa de la Garita, with calm water, a beach bar, showers and a play park.

Palacio is one of the homes in the operator’s airport-transfer package. Guests can book a private return transfer (at least 48 hours’ notice) and get a complimentary 5-seater car for up to 7 days; 7-seater cars are available at extra cost and priced on request. For a group of twenty you will almost certainly want more than one car, so ask for a quote early. Drivers must be 25 or older with a licence held for at least two years.

What It Costs in Winter: Real Booking-Engine Quotes

Prices below are a dated snapshot, not a price list. On 23 October 2026 we asked the Lanzarote Retreats booking engine for 7-night stays, and the quotes for the whole estate were as follows. Your price depends on the dates, the number of guests and whatever is available, so check the live calendar on the property page before you plan around any figure.

Stay (7 nights)Guests in quoteQuoted totalPer night
15–22 November 20262 adults€4,344about €621
5–12 December 20262 adults€5,813about €830
24–31 January 20272 adults€7,551about €1,079

7–14 March 20272 adults€7,801about €1,114
14–21 March 20278 adults€8,302about €1,186

Two things stand out. First, the same estate swings from about €621 a night in mid-November to well over €1,000 in January to March, which is the European winter-sun peak, so a group with flexible dates saves thousands by going in November. Second, the engine’s quote for eight adults is only marginally higher than for two, which tells you the price is for the property, not per head. Divide €8,579 by 16 people and the week works out at roughly €536 each before flights and food, and by 27 it is under €320. Check which rooms are actually included in a quote, because we saw the engine return the whole estate for these searches; if you are fewer people, ask the office whether a partial booking is possible.

Palacio vs Casa Pino vs Boutique Beach Villa: Which Big Home?

Lanzarote Retreats has three homes that take eight or more adults. They are quite different, and the smallest group does not automatically want the biggest house.

If you are ten or fewer, Casa Pino5% off · code inside or the Boutique Beach Villa5% off · code inside will cost a lot less, though the operator notes that Casa Pino’s price is based on adult occupancy and that additional charges apply for children aged 3–17. If you are fifteen to twenty-seven, Palacio is the only Lanzarote Retreats home that works at all. The Boutique Beach Villa5% off · code inside is in a small naturist village, which is worth knowing before you book it for a mixed-age family.

Planning a Group Winter Trip: Weather, Timing and Logistics

Lanzarote’s winter is mild rather than hot. Lanzarote Retreats publishes a weather table with average temperatures of 22 °C in November, 20 °C in December, and 18 °C in January and February, rising to 19 °C in March; the rain figures it shows are 15 mm, 29 mm, 16 mm, 18 mm and 12 mm over the same months. Evenings can be cool, so pack a fleece and a light waterproof. There is no air conditioning or heating at most homes (Arrecife Sands is the only property with A/C), and we would not expect either to be needed, though the sun on a terrace is strong even in January. Be prepared for the island’s trade winds and, now and then, calima, the Saharan dust haze.

For logistics, think about the sequence: pick dates first, because that is what drives the price; confirm who sleeps in a yurt and who wants an en-suite; and arrange cars and transfers as soon as your numbers are firm. Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out at 10:00, and the operator can offer early check-in or late check-out for 50% of a nightly rate, subject to availability. The booking terms say 30% is due as a non-refundable deposit and the balance 30 days before arrival; cancelling after the deposit forfeits it, and inside 30 days the operator keeps 100%. With a group this large and a total in five figures, travel insurance and a written agreement on who pays what are part of the plan, not an afterthought.

From Finland, which is where we plan from, flights to Lanzarote take roughly six hours, and from the UK about four. Lanzarote is on the same time as the UK in winter and two hours behind Finland, so nobody gets jet lag.
