Finca de Arrieta With a Baby or Toddler: Cots, Pools, Donkeys and Which Home to Book

Lanzarote in winter is warm enough for a one-year-old in a sun hat, and Lanzarote Retreats’ off-grid eco village is the kind of place where a toddler can wander between a play park, a donkey paddock and a pool. We went through the operator’s pages to see what is actually provided for little ones, what is not, and which homes make the most sense with a baby.

Short answer

Finca de Arrieta is a good fit for a baby or toddler if you are happy with off-grid simplicity: Lanzarote Retreats lends a travel cot, high chair, changing mat, potty, toddler step and baby bath free on request, child car seats are free, and children 17 and under stay free. Why a Warm Island Works With Little Ones

We live in Rovaniemi, where a January stroller walk means snowsuits, a rain cover and a very short outing. Lanzarote Retreats’ weather table, published on its property pages, averages 18 °C in January and February and 19 °C in March, with 16, 18 and 12 mm of rain respectively. That is not hot, and the operator says evenings can feel cool, so we would pack fleece layers and a light waterproof even for a baby. But it means a baby can nap outdoors in the shade most winter days, which is the main thing a family from northern Europe is buying.

The flight is also kinder than a long-haul trip: roughly six hours from Helsinki and about four from the UK (approximate, generic figures), and Lanzarote is on the same clock as London in winter, two hours behind Finland. Finca de Arrieta is about 20 km from Arrecife airport, so the transfer is short. We have not stayed there ourselves; everything below comes from the operator’s property pages and booking engine.

What Lanzarote Retreats Provides for Babies

The company-wide policy, taken from the operator’s pages, is that a travel cot, high chair, changing mat, potty, toddler step and baby bath are free on request, and child car seats are free on request too. Ask when you book rather than on arrival, so the kit is in place. Linen, towels, cleaning, utilities and wifi are included in the price, which is one less thing to carry with an infant.

Finca de Arrieta adds a welcome pack on arrival with cava, water, milk, wine, coffee and tea (so there is milk for the first night), a laundry service, an honesty shop open 24/7 for basics, books and toys, a children’s play park, ping-pong, giant chess, donkeys, chickens and fresh eggs from the hen-house. The on-site team covers housekeeping, maintenance and guest relations, and there is a WhatsApp concierge during your stay.

What the Finca homes do not have, according to the operator, is a dishwasher, TV, electric kettle or iron, because the village runs on solar panels with a generator back-up. A hairdryer is available on request. With a baby that mostly means checking with the office how to warm and sterilise bottles in your kitchen, and treating laundry as a service you use rather than a machine you run.

The Pool Question: Shared, Solar-Heated and the Gated Farmhouse Pool

The shared pool at Finca de Arrieta is 13 m × 2.5 m, solar-heated and open all year. We could not find on the operator’s pages whether it is fenced, so we would ask Lanzarote Retreats before booking and, with a toddler, treat it as a pool that needs an adult within arm’s reach. Solar heating helps a winter swim, but the operator does not promise a temperature, so do not count on bath-warm water in January.

The Eco Luxury Farmhouse5% off · code inside is the exception worth knowing about. Its private solar-heated pool measures 2.5 × 5 m, and the operator says the pool area, with a covered chill-out area, a double day bed and sofas, is secured with a removable child safety gate. It also has a bamboo dining hut, a BBQ and table tennis. The price reflects that: the booking engine quoted €2,556 for 7 nights from 10 January 2027 for 2 adults, when we checked in October 2026. It sleeps up to 6 adults plus 3 children or infants, so it is a realistic choice for two families or for grandparents travelling with a baby.

Remember that the gate is removable, so it only works if it is closed. Nothing replaces supervision; that is general advice, not an operator claim.

Which Home to Book With a Baby: Our Shortlist

Children 17 and under stay free at Finca de Arrieta, so the price you see is driven by the home and dates, not by how many small people you bring. These are the homes we would shortlist, with 7-night booking-engine quotes for 2 adults from 10 January 2027 as we found them in October 2026. Prices change with dates and availability, so check the live calendar.

If you want your baby asleep in a separate room from where you sit in the evening, the Garden Cottage, the Barn or a yurt pair give you that; the single-room Casita does not, so it suits a baby who sleeps anywhere.

Yurts With a Baby: Warmer Than You Think, Simpler Than You Fear

A Mongolian yurt sounds like a camping trip. According to the operator, the yurts at Finca de Arrieta are double-lined and naturally insulated, with luxury fabrics, a marble floor in the larger Eco Twin Yurt5% off · code inside pod and a wood floor in the smaller one, which has twin single beds for children. Most Finca homes have no heating and no air-conditioning, and the operator’s range is roughly 18–28 °C year-round, so a baby needs layers in the evening rather than a heater.

The practical advice we would follow is to ask the office which pod suits a travel cot best, keep the baby monitor within range of the dining hut where you will sit, and decide in advance who does the night feed in the dark, because off-grid lighting is gentler than a city flat. A torch is on the operator’s packing list for winter.

Beach, Village and Daily Rhythm With a Toddler

A track leads about 300 metres down to Playa de la Garita, an 810 m golden beach the operator describes as having calm water, with a beach bar, showers and a play park. Arrieta itself is a fishing village of about 400 people in the Haría municipality, with seafront fish restaurants, a pizzeria and a supermarket. For a toddler day, the pattern is simple: morning at the play park or with the Finca’s donkeys and chickens, lunch in the village, a nap in the shade, then the beach in the late afternoon.

We could not tell from the operator’s pages how suitable the track is for a stroller, so ask the office, and consider a baby carrier. The Atlantic can bring swell on north-facing beaches, so watch the water rather than assuming the calm days last. Sun protection matters even in winter.

On Mondays the Finca runs a paella evening (subject to availability), which is an easy night with a toddler: no cooking, other children nearby, and a quick walk back to your door.

Getting There With Car Seats and Luggage

Private airport transfers can be arranged with 48 hours’ notice for Finca de Arrieta, using minivans, and the package includes a complimentary 5-seater car for up to 7 days (hybrid where possible), according to the operator; 7-seaters cost extra and the price depends on group size and dates, so ask for a quote. Drivers must be 25 or older with a licence held for at least two years. Child car seats are free on request, which saves lugging one through Helsinki airport. If you plan to use public transport instead, there is a bus stop on the main road by the Finca, but we would not do that on arrival day with a tired baby.

Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00. Early check-in or late check-out costs 50% of a nightly rate and is subject to availability, which can be worth it on a nap-driven schedule. Self check-in is available.

How to Book With the Hungrytravelfamily Codes

If we were booking with a baby, we would start with the Eco Casita5% off · code inside for a couple or the Eco Garden Cottage5% off · code inside for a family of four, and look at the Eco Luxury Farmhouse5% off · code inside only if a gated private pool is the priority. The operator’s terms: a 30% non-refundable deposit confirms the booking, the balance is due 30 days before arrival, and cancelling after the deposit forfeits it, with 100% retained inside 30 days. With a small child who might get ill, travel insurance is worth having. The minimum stay is 3 nights (2 nights if you arrive within a month), with flexible arrival days. The price is always shown on the live calendar for your dates.

Our Honest Final Word

We have not stayed at Finca de Arrieta, so we cannot tell you how a baby sleeps in a yurt. What the operator’s pages do show is a practical set-up for families: free baby kit, free child car seats, children free of charge, a play park, a gated private pool at one home, and a short transfer from the airport. The trade-offs are real too: no TV, no dishwasher, no heating, and a 300 m track to the beach.

If that suits you, book early for January and February, which is European winter-sun season.
