Eco Luxury Farmhouse vs Eco Luxury Villa: Which Finca de Arrieta Villa Suits Your Family Best?
Finca de Arrieta has two big villas that families keep comparing: the three-bedroom Eco Luxury Farmhouse with its own heated pool, and the two-bedroom Eco Luxury Villa with a walled garden and the shared pool. We went through the operator’s pages and the booking engine to work out who should pick which, and what the price gap really buys.

This guide is built from the live property pages and booking engine of Lanzarote Retreats — sleeping capacities, inclusions, distances and prices come from the operator, never invented. We have not stayed in these homes ourselves; we research them and send readers.

Why These Two Villas Get Compared
Finca de Arrieta is an off-grid eco village of 21 self-catering homes in the north-east of Lanzarote, run by the Braddock family’s Lanzarote Retreats. Most of the homes are yurts and small stone cottages. Only two are what a family would call a proper villa, and they are the ones that turn up in every search: the Eco Luxury Farmhouse and the Eco Luxury Villa. Both are stone-built renovations, both have hardwood floors and handmade granite kitchens, and both are an easy walk down a track to the beach.
We have not stayed in either — we live in Rovaniemi, Finland, and we research these homes and send readers — so everything below comes from the operator’s property pages, its FAQ and the booking engine. What we can add is the decision help: how the two differ in practice, where the money goes, and which family we would steer to which.
The Eco Luxury Farmhouse: Room for Six Adults and Three Children
The Eco Luxury Farmhouse5% off · code inside is, in the operator’s words, the largest and most impressive renovation at the Finca: about 250 m² indoors, three bedrooms and three bathrooms, built with local materials including the original stone walls. There are two double bedrooms and a twin room. The master suite has a super king-size four-poster bed and an en-suite with a walk-in shower, and the guest bedroom off the entrance hall has twin beds and a skylight. The operator says the house sleeps a maximum of six adults plus three children or infants, using travel cots and z-beds.

The headline feature is the private solar-heated pool, 2.5 × 5 metres, with a bamboo dining hut, a shaded lounge with a double day bed, a barbecue, sun loungers and a table-tennis table. For families with toddlers the detail that matters is the removable child safety gate around the pool area. The house also has free wifi and access to the Finca’s second, shared pool, so on a busy week you are never forced to use the shared one but can.
The kitchen has a five-ring hob, an oven and grill, a fridge and freezer and a central island, and the dining table seats six. That is the real argument for the Farmhouse: it is built for one large group to cook, eat and swim together without leaving the property.
The Eco Luxury Villa: The Converted Aljibe With a Walled Garden
The Eco Luxury Villa5% off · code inside is a different kind of house. It began life as an aljibe, a traditional water repository, and has been turned into a 200 m² single-level home with hardwood floors, stone walls and a mix of Moroccan and Indonesian furnishings. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms: the master has a 180 cm four-poster bed, mountain views and an en-suite with a walk-in shower and a bath, and there is a further shower room. The lounge has an Indonesian day bed that the operator says sleeps additional guests, which is how the sleeping figure reaches four adults plus two children or infants.

Outside there is a private walled and gated garden with a shaded dining hut, a day bed, a hammock and a barbecue, plus table tennis. There is no private pool: the Villa uses the Finca’s shared solar-heated pool, 13 × 2.5 metres, which the operator says is open all year. The single level and the gated garden make it easy to keep an eye on small children, and the whole house feels more like a cosy hideaway than a group base.

Across the January to March samples the Farmhouse costs roughly €900 to €1,100 more per week than the Villa, which works out at about €130 to €150 more per night. For that you get a third bedroom, a third bathroom, about 50 m² more space and a private pool. Whether that is good value depends entirely on how many of you there are.

For a couple with two children, the Villa quote of €1,656 for a late-January week is the better deal and you give up nothing you will miss, because the shared pool is large and solar-heated. For six adults splitting the bill, the Farmhouse becomes cheap per head: €2,556 divided by six is about €426 each for the week, and nobody sleeps on a sofa. The in-between case, two parents and three or four children, is where we would pause and look at the Eco Barn5% off · code inside or the Eco Garden Cottage5% off · code inside instead, because paying for a third bedroom you do not need is the most common over-spend.
One caution from the operator’s own notes: pool heating at the Finca is solar, so in January the water is pleasant rather than hot. Think of it as a swim you enjoy for ten minutes in sunshine, not a lagoon.
Living Off-Grid in Either Villa
Both houses run on the Finca’s solar electricity with generator back-up, which has a few practical consequences. The operator says you can use any electrical appliance as you would on the grid, but it does not fit high-consumption items: no dishwashers, no TV, no electric kettle, no iron. Hairdryers are not provided as standard but can be requested. Hot water comes from each home’s own gas water heater, and there is no air conditioning or heating because the operator describes temperatures of around 18–28 °C all year.

The things you get instead are a welcome pack on arrival (cava, water, milk, wine, coffee and tea), beach towels, a honesty shop open 24/7, a children’s play park, giant chess, ping-pong, donkeys, chickens and fresh eggs, and a Monday paella evening subject to availability. Baby kit (travel cot, high chair, changing mat, potty, toddler step and bath) and child car seats are free on request.
For winter we would pack a fleece for the evenings and a light waterproof, as the operator advises. January averages 18 °C by day with about 16 mm of rain according to its weather table, which for people from Finland feels like a gift.
Which One for Which Family
We would choose the Farmhouse for three kinds of group: a large family or two families travelling together, three generations who want a bedroom each and a private pool for toddlers behind a gate, and a wellness or yoga group, which the operator specifically mentions. We would choose the Villa for a family of four to six, for anyone who prefers a quiet garden to a pool terrace, and for anyone who wants the Finca experience at roughly two-thirds of the Farmhouse price.
If neither fits, there are smaller options on the same estate. The Eco Barn5% off · code inside takes two adults and three children and the Eco Garden Cottage5% off · code inside is the budget route for four, and if you want the whole island rather than a single village our Lanzarote stays guide compares every home we feature.
Booking, Deposits and the Hungrytravelfamily Codes
You book directly with Lanzarote Retreats on lanzaroteretreats.com or by WhatsApp; we never take payment. The operator takes a 30% non-refundable deposit at booking, the balance is due 30 days before arrival, and cancelling after the deposit forfeits it, so it recommends travel insurance. Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out by 10:00, arrival days are flexible and the minimum stay at the Finca is three nights, or two if you arrive within a month. The operator can arrange private airport transfers with a complimentary 5-seater car for up to seven days.
