Arriving in Tromsø Tomorrow? A 24-Hour Plan That Ends With the Northern Lights Tour Tomorrow Night
You land in Tromsø tomorrow and want the aurora tour on the same night. Here is a practical plan from landing to the late return, with meal timing, packing, what to leave out the next morning and how to book today.

This guide is built from our own winters in the Arctic and from the live Legendary Adventure tour pages in Tromsø — prices, pickup times and what is included come straight from the operator, never invented.
Yes, you can end your first day in Tromsø with the Northern Lights Tour5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5, as long as the date is open and your flight leaves you a comfortable buffer. Pick-up is at 18:30 (it was 19:00 before 25 October) outside Clarion Hotel The Edge. The tour costs NOK 2,300 per person, lasts 5–8 hours and includes a winter suit, a warm meal, snacks and hot drinks. Eat lightly beforehand, keep the next morning free, and book today online. Type HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 in the promo-code field for 5% off. One important point: booking for tomorrow night falls inside the 48-hour window, so it is a 100% charge if you cancel.

First, Check That Tomorrow Night Works
Before we build the day, three quick checks. They take a few minutes and save a lot of regret.
- Your landing time. Pick-up is at 18:30. If you land in the early afternoon, you have time. If you land at 16:30, you are cutting it fine once baggage, transfer and check-in are counted, and we would move the tour to your second night.
- Availability. The tour takes 2–8 guests per departure. Open the booking calendar and see whether tomorrow shows space. If it does not, the Private Northern Lights Tour5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 is the fallback.
- Cancellation. The operator’s terms give a full refund more than 48 hours before and a 100% charge inside 48 hours. Booking today for tomorrow is inside that window, so treat the booking as final.
If any of those fail, push the tour to day two. A first night that goes wrong is better than a flight delay that turns into a charge for a tour you missed.
The 24 Hours at a Glance
| When | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Landing | Get to your hotel, drop bags | Do it before anything else |
| Early afternoon | Late lunch, short walk in town | Daylight is limited in winter |
| Late afternoon | Rest and layer up | You will be out late |
| 18:15 | Be outside Clarion Hotel The Edge | Pick-up is 18:30 |
| 18:30–about 23:30 or later | Northern Lights Tour | 5–8 hours |
| Late night | Back to the hotel, sleep | Nothing planned for the morning |
The finish is the part that surprises people. From an 18:30 pick-up, a 5-hour tour is over at 23:30 and an 8-hour tour at 02:30. The operator does not give a fixed return time, and we would not plan around one.
From the Airport to Your Bed: Keep It Boring
We will not quote fares, because we do not have verified numbers and prices change. In general, you will have a choice between a bus, a taxi or a pre-arranged transfer from the airport into the centre, so check what your hotel recommends before you fly. The point is not to save five minutes; it is to arrive at your hotel calm, with your luggage out of your hands.

If your hotel allows early check-in, ask. If it does not, ask them to hold your bags and use the lobby to change into your first layers. If you have booked the Private Northern Lights Tour5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 instead, you choose the pick-up location at checkout, so it can be the hotel door instead of the harbour.
What to Do Before the Pick-Up
You have a few hours between arriving and the 18:30 pick-up. Our advice is to use them gently:
- Walk, do not tour. A short walk around the centre is enough to get your bearings. Nothing needs to be ticked off.
- Eat a late, light lunch. The tour includes a warm meal, snacks and hot drinks, so you do not need a large dinner before pick-up.
- Rest for an hour. Even a short lie-down is worth it if you got up before dawn for a flight.
- Charge phones and cameras. Cold drains batteries quickly. Keep a spare in an inside pocket.
From our own Arctic winters, a mistake worth avoiding is a full sightseeing afternoon followed by a night tour. You arrive at the minivan tired and cold before you have started.

Pick-up at 18:30 means the usual dinner hour falls in the middle of the tour. The operator lists a warm meal, snacks and hot drinks, so you will be fed. Our suggestion is a proper lunch around 13:00 to 14:00, a small snack about 16:30 if you are hungry, and then nothing heavy. If you have dietary needs, tell the operator before the tour; the kit does not tell us what the meal is, so we cannot say if it suits you.
After you are back, do not count on finding food at that hour, so a bar or fruit in your hotel room is a good idea.
What to Pack for the Night
The good news is that a winter suit is included. That solves the bulkiest part of the problem. What you wear underneath still matters.

- Warm, waterproof boots with space for thick socks
- Base layers in wool or a synthetic fabric, not cotton
- A fleece or wool mid layer
- Thin gloves for using your phone, with warm mittens over them if you have them
- A hat covering your ears, and a neck warmer
- A power bank and a camera or phone you are happy to use in the cold
Wear the base and mid layers when you leave the hotel; the suit goes on top. Dress to be comfortable standing still, because that is what you will be doing for a good part of the night.
The Morning After: Should You Book a Day Tour?
Short answer: not for 10:00. Work it through. The aurora tour can return as late as 02:30. The daytime tours we would normally suggest, the Sommarøy & Kvaløya Scenic Fjord Tour5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 (NOK 2,100 per person, 5–6 hours, lunch included) and the Arctic Snowshoe Hike5% off · HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 (NOK 1,500 per person, 4 hours), both pick up at 10:00. That leaves at most 7.5 hours between a 02:30 drop-off and the 10:00 pick-up, and less once you wash, eat and walk to the meeting point.
Our plan would be to leave the morning after open, and book the daytime tour for the next day instead. You will enjoy a fjord drive far more when you are rested, and the daylight hours in winter are too valuable to spend half asleep. With only two nights, use night one for the aurora, keep the second morning slow, and put the day tour on day two.

FAQ
Can I really book the Northern Lights Tour for tomorrow night?
If the booking calendar shows space, yes. The tour takes 2–8 guests per departure. If tomorrow is full, look at the private tour or the next night.
What time is the pick-up?
18:30 (19:00 before 25 October) outside Clarion Hotel The Edge. Look for a black Mercedes. The private tour lets you choose your pick-up location at checkout.
How much does it cost?
NOK 2,300 per person for the shared tour, NOK 15,000 per group for the private tour. Book online and type HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY5 in the promo-code field for 5% off.
What is included?
A local expert guide, transport in a premium Mercedes-Benz vehicle, a winter suit, and a warm meal, snacks and hot drinks.
What if my flight is delayed?
The operator’s terms are a full refund more than 48 hours before and a 100% charge inside 48 hours. For a booking made today for tomorrow, that means there is no refund, so give your flight a comfortable buffer or take the second night.
Should I book a morning tour the day after?
We would not. The tour can return as late as 02:30 and the daytime tours pick up at 10:00. Choose a later day.
Our Honest Final Word
A same-day plan comes down to three decisions. Check your landing time and the calendar. Keep the afternoon quiet and the meal light. Leave the morning after empty. If all three hold, the Northern Lights Tour is a good way to finish your first day in the north, and the winter suit means you do not need to pack bulky gear just for the night. If your flight times are tight, take the second night and enjoy a calmer arrival.
