If you are searching for Las Vegas RV rental in winter, you are probably after one thing: a road trip that does not need a ski jacket. The desert Southwest is a smart choice for that. From November to March Las Vegas itself is mild, the lower-elevation parks are open and cheap rental weeks are easy to find, while Europe and the Nordics are dark and cold.

We went through the live Las Vegas RV rental page on CampervanPlanet for prices, seasons and routes, and added well-known geography. This is a researched planning guide, not a claim of a recent personal tour, and you should check road status, park closures and campground reservations on official US sources. For the bigger picture on renting abroad, here is our campervan rental guide.

Short Answer

Las Vegas RV rental starts from about $47 a day for a 10 November 2026 pick-up, $44 a day for 9 March 2027 and $64 a day for 8 June 2027 on CampervanPlanet (cheapest vehicle, seven nights, October 2026 prices). Winter days in the city are about 10–15°C, mountain passes can have snow and Bryce Canyon and the North Rim may be closed. Death Valley, Valley of Fire and the Grand Canyon South Rim make good winter routes. Our €20 reader coupon works at checkout.

Why Las Vegas is a smart RV base

Las Vegas is one of the most practical places in the world to start an RV trip. It has a huge international airport, 23 rental companies compared on the page and routes in every direction. Most depots are close to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) or along Boulder Highway south of the Strip, and some companies also deliver to RV parks.

The flights are the other reason. Las Vegas is a major hub with many direct connections from Europe and North America, so you can often land, pick up and be in the desert the same afternoon. CampervanPlanet’s live search covers 35 US depots, so one-way trips are possible too, for example to Los Angeles, which we cover on the Los Angeles RV rental page.

A licence note for visitors: the page says a standard US licence is enough for most rental RVs under 26,000 lbs, and international visitors need a valid overseas licence plus an International Driving Permit. No commercial licence is needed for personal recreational use.

Winter routes from Las Vegas

The page lists four classic routes from Las Vegas. In winter, three of them work well. Death Valley is the most winter-friendly: it is described as the lowest, hottest and driest place in North America, with Badwater Basin 86 m below sea level, Artist’s Palette, Zabriskie Point and the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, and it is best visited in the cooler months. Plan 3–4 days.

The Grand Canyon is the second. The South Rim is about 450 km, or 4.5 hours, from Las Vegas via I-40 and Route 64, while the West Rim (Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk) is only about 200 km, or 2.5 hours. Inside the national park, Mather Campground and Desert View are the RV-friendly options, and the page says to reserve well in advance for spring and autumn. In winter, expect cold nights at that elevation.

The third is the Valley of Fire, a short drive north-east of the city and listed as perfect for the lower desert in winter. The Zion and Bryce Canyon route is the one to leave for spring or autumn, since the page warns that Bryce Canyon and the North Rim may be closed in winter and some roads may need chains. Which season to choose

The page gives a clear picture of the year. Spring, March to May, is 20–30°C and described as the best overall season for a Southwest road trip, but it is peak RV season and national park campgrounds fill fast. Summer is extreme, 35–45°C and above in the desert, and the cheapest of the year, with higher parks such as Zion, Bryce Canyon and the North Rim comfortable if you drive in the early morning or evening.

Autumn is cooling and pleasant at 25–30°C, with fewer crowds than spring, and October is called ideal for a Southwest road trip. Winter is mild in Las Vegas at 10–15°C, with snow in the mountains, good RV rental rates and no need to battle summer heat.

Our own pick for a winter escape would be late February to March, when the days lengthen and prices are still low, or early December before the Christmas rush. In January, expect cold desert nights and pack a proper sleeping setup, because a thin blanket will not do. Avoid major holiday weekends if you can, since the parks are fully booked then.

What it costs

The cheapest numbers come straight from the CampervanPlanet booking engine in October 2026, for the cheapest campervan available for seven nights from the Las Vegas (LAS) depot, in US dollars: from $47 a day for a pick-up on 10 November 2026, from $44 a day for 9 March 2027 and from $64 a day for 8 June 2027. Larger motorhomes cost more, and the final price depends on dates, vehicle and extras.

The page also links to a full price study, Las Vegas RV rental prices, which looks at month-by-month cost, vehicle types and the real cost of a week including miles. That is worth opening, because mileage allowances are where many US rentals surprise people. Check what is included in each offer, and what you pay locally.

Budget extra for fuel, which adds up fast over desert distances, for generator hours if you use one, for national park entry fees and for campsites. If you want to compare suppliers rather than prices, the page links to a list of the best RV rental companies in Las Vegas, ranked by Google rating. Desert driving tips

Desert driving is easy but unforgiving. Fill the tank whenever you can, carry more water than you think you need and do not rely on mobile coverage in Death Valley. Distances are long: our 450 km to the Grand Canyon South Rim is a full day with stops, and RVs are slower uphill than cars.

In winter, check the weather on the day. The page says that mountain passes can have snow and some roads may require chains, so you should know how your rental company handles that before you set off. Book campgrounds in the national parks early for the spring and autumn weeks, and look at private RV parks near Las Vegas as a backup because they usually have full hook-ups.

Finally, remember that nights can fall to freezing in the desert, even when days are warm. A heated van, a hot-water bottle and an extra blanket are cheap insurance. We would also avoid the Strip with a large RV: leave it at an RV park and use a taxi or ride-share for the city.

Booking tips and our discount

When you compare offers, check what is included, such as insurance, mileage and equipment, and what is paid locally. The rental contract is with the rental company named on the offer, and CampervanPlanet handles the booking, payment and support. Many offers take a deposit online and the rest at pick-up, and the company holds a refundable security deposit on the main driver’s card at pick-up.

Book at least three months ahead for spring and autumn and as early as you can for Thanksgiving, Christmas and spring break. If you want to pick up in one city and drop off in another, choose a different drop-off location in the search to see the one-way price. For the overall picture, the CampervanPlanet Las Vegas page is where to start, and code HUNGRYTRAVELFAMILY20 takes €20 off your booking at checkout when you book through our links.

Mistakes to avoid

The two biggest mistakes are underestimating distance and overestimating winter warmth. People see “Las Vegas, 15°C” and forget that the Grand Canyon rim sits at about 2,100 m and can be well below freezing at night. Plan at least two nights per major stop and keep a fallback day in case a road is closed.

The third mistake is booking only on the daily rate. Mileage packages, generator fees, cleaning fees and one-way charges can change the picture, and the page reminds you that each offer lists them. Take the time to read the conditions, and take photos of the RV at pick-up and return.
