This July, we spent one night at Kurula’s Resort in Pyhä, Lapland.
It was only a short stay, but sometimes one night is enough to feel the mood of a place.
Kurula’s is located right by Lake Pyhäjärvi, surrounded by the quiet nature of Lapland. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the view. The lake was just there, calm and open, with the soft summer light over the water.
It did not feel like a busy hotel stay. It felt more like arriving somewhere peaceful.
First impression
The resort has a very calm and natural feeling.
The buildings fit nicely into the landscape, and the rooms have that warm Nordic style we really like. Wood, soft colors, big windows, and a feeling that the outside nature is part of the room.
It is modern, but not cold.
That is something we always appreciate. Some places try too hard to look perfect, but here it felt comfortable and real. A place where you can actually slow down, not just take photos and leave.
The room

We really liked the style of the room.
It had a cozy, cabin-like feeling, but still with a clean and modern design. The colors felt warm, and the big windows made the room feel open and connected to the lake.
There was something very simple and peaceful about waking up close to the water.
In summer, Lapland has this special light that makes everything feel softer. Even inside the room, you could feel the season. The lake, the sky, the trees — everything was close.
It is the kind of room where you want to make coffee slowly and just look outside for a while.
Sunset by the lake
The most beautiful moment of our stay was the evening.
We saw a really nice sunset over the lake. The sky changed slowly, and the water reflected the colors in a very calm way.
It was not dramatic or loud. Just beautiful in that quiet Lapland summer way.
Those are usually the moments we remember most from trips. Not the planned things, but the small ones. Standing outside, watching the light change, and feeling like there is nowhere else you need to be.

Summer in Lapland feels different
Many people think about Lapland only in winter.
Snow, northern lights, huskies, Christmas, and cold air.
But summer here has its own feeling.
The days are long, the light stays late, and nature feels very alive. Lakes, forests, soft evenings, and silence. It is a very different side of Lapland, but maybe even more peaceful.
Kurula’s felt like a good place to experience that side of the north.
A place for slowing down
For us, Kurula’s Resort felt like a place for slowing down.
Not a place where you need to fill every hour with activities. More like a place where the view, the room, and the nature are already enough.
Of course, Pyhä is also a great area if you want to explore more. There are hiking trails, the national park nearby, and in winter the ski area is close too.
But during our summer night there, the best part was simply being by the lake.
Would we come back?
Yes, we would.
Especially for a calm weekend, a romantic stay, or a quiet Lapland escape.
We visited in July, but we can also imagine how beautiful it must be in winter, when the lake is frozen and everything is covered with snow.
Still, summer gave us something very special: soft light, peaceful water, and a sunset we will remember.
Sometimes travel does not need to be complicated.
Sometimes it is just on night, one lake, one beautiful sunset — and that is enough.
