How Much Does a Proposal in Lapland Cost? Every Price, What It Includes and What Adds to It

A planned proposal in Rovaniemi costs from €650 to €2,700, depending on the setting, and every one of those prices already includes the planning, the set-up, the flowers and — in nearly every case — a photographer. We run Rovaniemi Weddings, so these are our own prices. Here is the full table, what moves the number up, and our honest view on where the money is well spent.

Short answer

A professionally planned proposal in Lapland costs from €650 to €2,700. Through our own company, Rovaniemi Weddings, we offer ten signature Proposals in Lapland: the cheapest is Right Where You Are (from €650), a styled setting at the cabin or hotel you have already booked; the most elaborate is The Grand Romance (from €2,700), a heart of flowers, MARRY ME in glowing letters and a flower-lined aisle. The four most asked-for — Yes Under the Aurora, On the Frozen Lake, The Fireside Proposal and A Promise in the Ice Chapel — start between €1,400 and €1,800. Every price includes organisation, coordination, set-up and removal, a bouquet of 30 roses and, for eight of the ten, a professional photographer. What adds cost: a videographer, a bigger bouquet or grand décor, and private transport beyond the included distance. You get one clear quote before you decide.

The Short Version: What You Pay and What You Get

People searching for the price of a proposal in Lapland usually have one of two worries: that it will be more than they expect, or that the headline price hides extras. Rovaniemi Weddings is our own company — Alla founded it after planning her own wedding in 2024, and we are the two people setting out candles on the ice while you are still at dinner — and our ten proposals are priced from €650 to €2,700.

Each of those is a “from” price: the price for the proposal as described on its page, which rises only if you add something to it. Always inside the number: planning and coordination; set-up and removal; a bouquet; sparkling wine in almost every option; and in eight of the ten, a professional photographer who captures the moment and takes couple photos right after the yes. Transport is included where the option says so; otherwise it is priced by distance from Rovaniemi. We quote only our own prices here, exactly as they appear on each proposal page.

All Ten Proposals, Side by Side: Price, Season and What Is Included

The whole range in one table; prices are from-prices.

One note on reading it: the two cheapest options are cheapest because the photographer is optional rather than built in — add one and they move closer to the middle of the table.

What Every Price Already Covers

What you never pay extra for:

  • Planning and coordination. The conversation about your story, the choice of spot and timing, the logistics with the venue or operator, the weather plan.
  • Set-up and removal by our team. We are there before you arrive and gone after you leave.
  • The flowers. A bouquet of 30 roses in nearly every option; 70 in A Thousand Petals; an abundant bouquet in The Grand Romance. We work with high-quality artificial and preserved flowers suited to Arctic conditions, because fresh petals freeze at −30 °C, and every bouquet is made by hand in our Rovaniemi studio.
  • The toast. Complimentary sparkling wine in most options; in the Ice Chapel, a toast usually in the Ice Bar.
  • The photographer in eight of the ten. The Surprise Proposal Photoshoot goes furthest: two hours of photography, 10–20 sneak-peek images within 24 hours, short videos for social media and at least 80 edited images in a web gallery three weeks later.
  • Transport, where stated: all of it for Yes Under the Aurora and The Path to Yes; within 10 km of the centre for Dinner in the Glass Dome; within 30 km for The Grand Romance.

What Adds to the Price, and By How Much It Matters

Add-ons are listed on every proposal page and quoted individually, because a bigger bouquet and a grand floral design are different things. These are the extras people actually choose:

  1. Private transport by distance. The one that most often surprises people, so check your accommodation’s distance from Rovaniemi first. The lake, the laavu and the Ice Chapel list private transport as an add-on; beyond the included distances of the other options — Levi, Saariselkä, Kiruna, Tromsø — we quote by distance.
  2. A videographer. Available on every option; say so in the first message so it goes into the single quote.
  3. A bigger bouquet, or a grand floral design. Every option can be scaled up: more flowers on the ice, a grand design at the laavu, décor both outside and inside the dome, décor at the spot for The Path to Yes.
  4. A photographer for the two options that do not include one — the add-on we would choose before any other.
  5. Setting-specific extras. A dinner cooked over the fire or an ice activity at The Fireside Proposal; more drinks after the toast in the Ice Bar, by the price list; a private reindeer farm or a national park as a second location on the photoshoot, charged separately.

One condition rather than a cost: Right Where You Are needs the property’s agreement. We ask on your behalf, without mentioning your partner.

Three Budgets, Honestly: Under €1,000, Around €1,500, and €1,800 Up

Under €1,000. Two options, both brought to where you are staying. Right Where You Are (from €650) styles a setting inside your room or cabin, in the hotel garden or on the terrace; A Thousand Petals (from €700) is the open-the-door surprise — a path of petals, seventy roses on the bed, hearts at the ceiling, a bottle on ice. Neither includes a photographer, which is why they cost what they do. Best value if you have already booked somewhere beautiful; the photographer add-on is worth more than any extra flower.

The Grand Romance: a heart of flowers, glowing letters and a flower-lined aisle, built on site by our team at Silver Birch Resort.

Around €1,000–€1,500. Where most of our proposals happen, and where the price buys the most: a private setting, a photographer and, in several cases, all transport. The two-hour Surprise Proposal Photoshoot, the laavu fire at The Fireside Proposal, candles on the ice at On the Frozen Lake, a private dinner at Dinner in the Glass Dome, the surprise walk of The Path to Yes, or a northern lights hunt with Yes Under the Aurora. If you only read one line of this guide: between late August and April, €1,500 for the aurora hunt includes the tour, the guide-photographer, the flowers and the transport, and we struggle to find anything to add to it.

€1,800 and up. Two options, and not the same kind of expensive. A Promise in the Ice Chapel (from €1,800) costs more because of what it is: private use of a candle-lit chapel carved from ice at the Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos, entrance to the hotel so the evening continues, and the toast in an ice glass. The Grand Romance (from €2,700) is a built installation — a heart of flowers, glowing letters, an aisle — designed and assembled on site, with transport within 30 km included. Choose the first for the setting, the second for the spectacle.

The Proposal Inside Your Trip Budget

A proposal is one evening of a three- or four-night trip, so see it next to the other numbers. From our Lapland Wedding Cost guide: return flights to Rovaniemi from most European cities run €150–€500 per person; guesthouses are €80–€150 a night and glass igloos or resort suites €300–€800. Against that, a €1,400–€1,500 proposal with a private experience and a photographer is often the best-value evening of the stay — and the one you will still have the pictures of in thirty years.

Two ways to keep the total sensible. Book the proposal as the activity it genuinely is — a private northern lights tour, a dinner in a glass dome, a visit to the snow hotel — so it replaces an evening you would have paid for anyway. And fill the rest of the trip with the free and cheap things Rovaniemi does well; our guide to the best budget activities in Rovaniemi is where we would start. If you are coming at Christmas, read our guide to Lapland in December before you fix dates: that fortnight is the busiest of the year, and the Ice Chapel only opens from mid-December.

Our Honest Value Guidance: Where to Spend and Where Not To

What we would tell a friend:

  • Pay for the photographer before anything else. It is the one part of the evening you cannot recreate. On a tight budget, choose Right Where You Are plus a photographer over a bigger bouquet without one.
  • Do not pay for a season you are not in. In October or April the frozen lake and the Ice Chapel are closed — Yes Under the Aurora, the dome dinner and the laavu are open, at the same from-prices.
  • Transport is only worth adding if you are far out. Near the city you rarely need it; 40 km away it is the add-on that makes the evening work.
  • A videographer is a want, not a need. The photographer already captures the moment and the couple photos.
  • The Grand Romance is for a specific person. If your partner would gasp at glowing letters and a flower-lined aisle, nothing else will do. If they would prefer a quiet lake and two candles, the €1,400 option is the better proposal, not the cheaper one.
  • Ask for a custom proposal if none fits. We design proposals from scratch around your story and budget, including during a private husky safari or reindeer-farm visit, coordinated with the operator.

How to Get a Quote and Plan It With Us

The quote is the only step that has anything to do with money, and it comes early.

  1. Weeks before — tell us the story. Write to us through the Contact Rovaniemi Weddings page: how you met, what matters to your partner, your dates and where you are staying. We reply within one business day and suggest the option that fits, or shape a custom one.
  2. Within a few days — option and quote. One clear quote with nothing hidden: the from-price, your add-ons, transport if you are beyond the included distance. The date is held.
  3. The days before — quiet preparation. Flowers, candles, photographer, transport and the weather plan confirmed on our side.
  4. The hour — the moment. We set up while you are on your way and step out of sight. You ask, the photographer captures it, we quietly pack down.

We communicate only with you and never contact your partner. When the answer is yes, Elopement in Lapland is the page to read next.

FAQ

What is the cheapest way to propose in Lapland with a planner?

Right Where You Are, from €650: we style a proposal setting inside or outside the cabin, villa or hotel you have already booked, within 30 km of Rovaniemi, with a bouquet of 30 roses and sparkling wine. A Thousand Petals, from €700, is the room surprise with seventy roses and heart balloons. Neither includes a photographer; one can be added, and we would add that before any other extra.

Does the price include a photographer?

In eight of the ten proposals, yes: a professional photographer captures the moment and takes couple photos right after the yes. The two cheapest options, Right Where You Are and A Thousand Petals, list the photographer as an add-on, which is why their prices start lower. The Surprise Proposal Photoshoot includes two full hours of photography and at least 80 edited images.

Is transport included in the price?

Where the proposal page says so. Yes Under the Aurora and The Path to Yes include all transport; Dinner in the Glass Dome includes private transport within 10 km of Rovaniemi city centre; The Grand Romance within 30 km. For the frozen lake, the laavu and the Ice Chapel, private transport is an add-on, and for anywhere further afield we quote by distance from Rovaniemi.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Every price includes planning, coordination, set-up and removal by our team, and you receive one clear quote before you decide, listing the from-price and any add-ons you have chosen. The only costs charged separately on the day are things you choose there — for example more drinks after the toast in the Ice Bar, charged by the price list, or a visit to a private reindeer farm on the photoshoot.

Do prices change by season?

Each proposal has one from-price, listed on its page, and the price table above is the same whichever month you come. What the season changes is which options exist: On the Frozen Lake runs December to March, A Promise in the Ice Chapel from mid-December to the end of March, Yes Under the Aurora from late August to April, and the rest all year. Popular dates such as Christmas, New Year and February–March simply book out earlier.

Can you do a proposal outside Rovaniemi, and what does it cost?

Yes. We are based in Rovaniemi and most proposals happen nearby, but every option can be arranged anywhere in Lapland — Levi, Ylläs, Saariselkä, Pyhä — and across Finland, Sweden and Norway, including Kiruna, Abisko, Tromsø and the Lofoten islands. The from-price stays the same; the distance is quoted separately, and we handle the logistics with the venue or operator on site.

Our Honest Final Word

A planned proposal in Lapland costs between €650 and €2,700, and whether it is worth it depends on what the number includes. Ours include the planning, the set-up, the flowers and, in nearly every case, the photographer — so the from-price is close to the final price for most couples, and the add-ons are choices, not surprises. The best value is the middle: for €1,400–€1,500 you get a private setting, a photographer and often all transport, and between late August and April we would choose Yes Under the Aurora every time.

Rovaniemi Weddings is our company, so of course we would like you to book with us. But we would rather you booked the right option than the biggest one. Already booked somewhere beautiful? Start with Right Where You Are and add a photographer. Has your partner ever said the words “ice hotel”? A Promise in the Ice Chapel. Would they gasp at glowing letters? The Grand Romance. Otherwise see all ten proposals, tell us the story and your budget, and we send one clear quote within a business day — and we never contact your partner.
