Probably not \u2014 it&#8217;s far from Kotor and the bay, so day-tripping the northern highlights means real driving. You&#8217;ll trade calm for energy \u2014 knowingly, which is the right way to do it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Book Kotor if<\/strong> you&#8217;re travelling outside July and August and want to wake up inside a medieval old town on a dramatic bay. The island-village is the coast&#8217;s postcard, but it&#8217;s essentially a luxury resort \u2014 for most travellers it&#8217;s a viewpoint stop on the Petrovac&ndash;Budva road, not a base. The viewpoint alone is worth pulling over for; we did.<\/p>\n<p>Whichever you choose, don&#8217;t try to sleep in two or three of them in one short trip.
