The car deck is open air on most ferries, and you&#8217;re actively encouraged to leave the car and go upstairs. The views from the passenger deck are extraordinary.<\/li>\n      <li><strong>Card payment is almost universal.<\/strong> Norway is extremely cashless, and ferries reflect that. Crew carry card readers. Some ferries accept Vipps (Norwegian mobile payment) too.<\/li>\n      <li><strong>AutoPASS users: your tag works.<\/strong> If you&#8217;re renting a car with an AutoPASS transponder, many ferry crossings will charge you automatically \u2014 the same system used for toll roads. Medium crossings cost 150\u2013300 NOK (\u20ac13\u201327). Longer crossings like the Lofoten ferry can cost 400\u2013700 NOK (\u20ac35\u201365) for a car and two passengers. Campervans and motorhomes pay more due to vehicle length.
