There is no international driving permit required for most nationalities \u2014 but it is worth double-checking before you travel if your licence is from a country outside the EU\/EEA.<\/p>\n<h3>Key rules to know before you start<\/h3>\n<p>Estonia follows standard European driving rules \u2014 drive on the right, overtake on the left \u2014 but there are a few specifics that trip up first-timers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Headlights on at all times:<\/strong> Estonia requires dipped headlights 24\/7, year-round. On a mid-week drive between Tallinn and Tartu, we had long stretches of excellent two-lane highway essentially to ourselves.
