Perth sits on the south-west coast, and the places most travellers dream of, from the Pinnacles to Shark Bay and the Kimberley, are hundreds or thousands of kilometres away. If you want a vehicle that can leave the bitumen, a 4WD camper is the right tool, but it helps to be honest about which trips start in Perth.<\/p>\n<p>We write this as a guide based on the CampervanPlanet Perth 4WD page as we saw it in early November 2026, not as a report from our own Western Australian trip. The road to Shark Bay itself is sealed for about <strong>830 km<\/strong>, and the 4WD earns its keep once you leave the road.
