In summer they transform into very different things. The main village is small but has good services. The fell (Pyh\u00e4tunturi) is dramatic and rocky \u2014 the name means \u201csacred\u201d in Finnish.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Luosto:<\/strong> About 10 km from Pyh\u00e4, also inside the national park but with a much quieter, more isolated character. No village as such \u2014 just a cluster of cabins around the ski slope base and the amethyst mine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Saariselk\u00e4:<\/strong> About 240 km north of Rovaniemi, near Inari.
