Snow is deep, the pines are heavy with it, and the cold can be serious: temperatures can fall as far as \u221230 \u00b0C. It is also, in our view, the most beautiful month for a photograph, because the air is clear and the light has a blue-pink quality at midday that you do not get anywhere else.<\/p><p>Daylight is short in early January and slowly lengthens through the month. That matters for a proposal: a candle-lit evening setting works at almost any time from late afternoon, and you rarely need to wait for midnight. After the Christmas and New Year peak, flights and hotels are easier and quieter. The Santa Claus Village crowds have thinned, and nobody is queuing for a restaurant table.<\/p><p>Rovaniemi Weddings is our own company, and January is when many of our proposals are for couples who deliberately avoided December. Rovaniemi sees visible auroras on roughly two of every three clear nights in peak season. No one can guarantee them, but January gives you plenty of dark evenings to try.<\/li><li><strong>It is easier to book.<\/strong> Dates in the second half of January are far less contested than the days around Christmas and New Year.<\/li><li><strong>The mood is calm.<\/strong> Fewer tourists, quiet roads, and a feeling that the place belongs to you for a few days.<\/li><\/ul><p>The trade-off is cold.
